The writers are no doubt focus grouping who it should be this very moment right? I assume they will choose who is killed based off of the reactions/speculation.
If that's the case, Gimple needs to be fired and just let Greg Nicotero take over. Make a choice in the show, and stick by it. Test audience and fan reaction gimmicks lessen a story. Hard choices are what can make a show great.

Exactly what I told my wife last night. That ending cheated whoever it was out of a monumental death scene that would've been talked about for years. Now when they open season 7 is will just be ho-hum and no one will really give a shite which is why I feel like they'll cop out and kill Aaron or some shite. Showing it last night could've really drawn the point across that Rick's arrogance was costing them the ultimate price.
And on top of that, this group hasn't really faced anything severe in a long time in terms of losing someone (dying I mean; not choosing to leave). The last major-ish character to die was Beth I guess, and you could argue that even she wasn't "main cast important." Last night could've been the punch in the gut to the audience that we've been needing for a long time now, where we have to watch someone we care about and are invested in (for longer than a season or two) die a painful, brutal death.
And we didn't get that. HUGE missed opportunity for them.
ETA: And I truly felt bad for Glenn when he came out of the van and saw Maggie kneeling on the ground. That had to be gut wrenching for him. I imagine he was like :Well I'm dead but at least my wife and future kid are safe and okay far from here.." and then to step out and see her right there and looking on the verge of death. That had to be awful for him.

Well even her death wasn't that gut wrenching cause she got shot in the head and it ended quickly for her. The people it was hardest for was Daryl and Maggie.

Who's left at Alexandria?
I told my wife this last night, there are probably a dozen or more people in Alexandria who we have never met. No a town of that magnitude maintains with just the group we know plus a few others.

I tried to recreate the exact order listed in the image below posted on page 40 and couldn't do it. Its correct all the way through Michonne. Then he turns to the left and it looks like he skips Daryl and goes to Rosita or Glenn for "Catch" and then goes to Daryl for "a tiger". Then he goes to Sasha, Aaron, Carl, Eugene in order. After that he is jumping all over place and has no organization.
So basically I think that post was not accurate and I wasted actual time busting it.

My god I hope he kills Maggie. They uglied her up so much I can barely stand to look at her. Not that she's been much use anyway.
Smash her up good and Glenn can hook up with Rosita

Negan is going to send them on their way.
He told them "I don't want you dead. I want you working for me"
He said he wants half their stuff and when he comes around in the future, they better open the door for him, etc.
They will not have to escape. The struggle will be "fight or comply"
The dude that was beaten and hung from the overpass was from a group that tried to fight.

Negan explained that he is killing one and that the rest will now work for him. I assume he will let everyone else go now.

so what in the frick was Lincoln talking about? If the entire cast still doesn't know who died. What exactly made him sick?

Probably because he didn't like how it played out.

JDM said today that he had no idea it was going to be a cliffhanger until he watched it. Either he's lying or the cast is lying or maybe they filmed more than one death. Idk I'm just spitballing here

Yeah. I think they filmed many deaths and no one knows who it'll actually be.
Posted on 4/4/16 at 3:02 pm to TheDarrell McSteal
I'm thinking that they filmed several different angles of the head smashing and will use them all in some manner next season.

Well at least we won't have to wait until the midseason finale to find out who it was.

I've known for a while what is in 701 and presenting what occurs and to show what happened in full force. It is the beginning of the next story. The two - the showing of, it's an incredible work of gore by Charlie Adlard in the book, how we show that on TV - I'm certain that we'll be pushing some boundaries with it." "Things are going to start off very, very, very dark because everybody knows where we're starting," Gimple says before a promising, "but that won't be the whole season."

For what it’s worth, Gimple seems to at least be somewhat aware of just how poorly this cliffhanger ending was going to be received. Speaking on the follow-up show Talking Dead, the showrunner was already talking about making amends in season 7:
“We have to do an episode that justifies it to you. We have to do something so great and so intense that you’re like, ‘OK, fair play.’ And that’s the challenge we have and we’re going to deliver you something fantastic… We want you to be one of those people in that lineup. We want you to feel that suspense and that terror and that pain, and we’re going to deliver you a story next season that justifies it.”
And so the cycle begins again: The Walking Dead‘s creatives hyping up what’s still to come as an apology for how little has gone before. Season 6’s midseason premiere was hyped up as a payoff for the midseason finale cliffhanger, and ultimately all that happened was a tiny handful of side characters were sacrificed, the zombie siege was resolved in a rather unconvincing way, everyone else miraculously survived, and Alexandria was back to normal by the next episode. Then the season 6 finale was hyped up as the real kicker, and it ended up being 90 minutes (including almost 30 minutes of commercials) of Rick and co. glumly encountering roadblocks and turning around, culminating in a poorly-executed cliffhanger.
Now fans can no doubt look forward to months of being promised a jaw-dropping seventh season of The Walking Dead that really ups the ante… but you could forgive them for being unconvinced this time around.
sums up the problems the show is having

ON WHETHER WE WILL SEE WHAT MADE NEGAN WHOM HE IS NOW: “I talked to [comic creator] Robert Kirkman [on Sunday night] after we did Talking Dead and he is kind of doing the backstory of Negan now, so whether or not or when we see that – I hope we do, I can’t answer that. I know when season 7 kicks off it’s going to kick off directly from where we left it; that’s about all I know as a fact at this point. But hopefully we’ll find out more about Negan as we go. I mean, I think his backstory is going to be pretty fascinating."
quote:
ON WHETHER THEY SHOW WILL PICK RIGHT BACK TO SEE WHO WAS KILLED: “That would be the hope, yeah. That’s the impression I have, that we will pick up directly from what we saw [in the finale]; that season 6 ended on that note and season 7’s going to pick up right where we left off. So, yeah, you’re going to see who’s at the end of that bat, and what happened from there.”
quote:
ON WHETHER HE THOUGHT THE CLIFFHANGER WAS NECESSARY: “Well, I didn’t know it was going to be a cliffhanger until I watched the show. That’s just how it was done in my world. I don’t know if any of the cast knew exactly how it was going to end, which kind of caused a lot of the uncertainty and emotion that was going on. That said, in talking to Scott and Robert [after the finale], I think that their explanation was that it was the end of the story for that season, and that Rick has lost control and there’s Negan, and Negan has all the control. “And I think that’s where they wanted to end the story, and it’s not about the death of that person, and then the death of the person is going to kick off season 7, and season 7 will be a big part of, obviously, who is on the receiving end of Lucille? I understand the fans’ frustration, I get that; that being said … I have to trust these writers and showrunners. They know what they’re doing; a lot of people watch for 6 seasons, and I believe that they’ll be back to see who met Lucille and as the story continues to grow.”

I really hope that is what actually happens. If they start Season 7 with 3 episodes giving you the back story to Negan im done with it.
