I mean he basically had to. He came full circle and redeemed himself but after all the horrible things he’s done, he doesn’t get to have a happy ending.

Yeah...her being a nobody didn't bother me as much as the fact that she had Jedi Master level control of the Force without any formal training.

A nobody relative to "parents".
Anakin was a force creation.
Just because Luke is of lineage to Anakin does not mean every force person from there need be of lineage.

They did a decent job of dumbing down Rey in this movie. She struggled with her training drills, she pretty much lost to Kylo on the sunken Death Star. I think they explained that the healing was unique to kylo and Rey. Her power at the end seems like a one time all of the Jedi are behind her kind of thing

Did you miss the whole stopping a ship in mid flight and pulling it back down towards the ground, then completely destroying it with lightning?
The fight with Kylo was such a bad bit of choreography. The only reason she lost is because they just decided to make her absurdly tired toward the end. It was really weird. She didn’t lose because she got overpowered, she just all of a sudden looked like she couldn’t swing a lightsaber anymore. It was very weird.
And Palpatine apparently. And a tiny baby Yoda.

These rumors come from the same sources who leaked the entire plot 2-3 months ago
Are you talking Jedi Praxis who leaked real spoilers or the hack Jason Ward who even Colin Trevorrow called out for making shite up. Praxis made no mention of it.

Rank of Force users and their capabilities
Everyone complaining about force powers never seen and the ability to be use them without training obviously never read the many novels or played the video games that were created in partnership with Lucas Arts who maintained complete control of the canon until selling it to Disney. Disney now chooses what parts to include and what parts to exclude and what parts to mix and change with obviously mixed results.
That being said force healing and natural force ability without training as well as reaching out and grabbing ships and striking them with force lightning are just the tip of the iceburg.
I predict a new round of Star Wars movies/streaming series focusing on masters training new jedi and and exploring the old canon along with creating new characters and threats for the jedi to rise against.
The rise of Skywalker has its faults but it saved a story that had been hijacked and restored my interest in the Star Wars universe.

What are the new Star Wars movies compared to as far as how good they are? Surely it’s not A New Hope and the Empire Strikes Back. Those are absolutely god awful garbage. I mean wow. Awful acting. Awful dialogue. Awful visuals. Just wow.

For starters, there has always been a separation between the EU/video games and movies. Secondly, even in the games and what not, the characters had to learn how to do their abilities. Lastly, there is a major difference in introducing a new force power into the movies that may have or may not have existed in the EU, and introducing a force ability that has never existed in Star Wars, having no training in how to do it, and also have it be a power that invalidates the majority of one of the most important character’s in all of Star Wars story arc.

LucasArts maintained extensive control over what and wasn't canon. Movie screenplays(adapted to the screen from source material)and final edits for time and pacing don't establish canon. The creators of the characters in their original stories determine canonical rules and details.
It was well established that there were extremely powerful force users out there with no training. Luke made a point to go find many of them and try to help them control their abilities before they killed anyone and fell to the dark side in their despair.
Black holes, teleportation,
and dimensional tears were not out of reach of a powerful force user and battle meditation made some practically invincible no matter how outnumbered or outmatched and so nothing seen in these movies falls into the over powered category.

Tired of the stormtroopers always giving them a chance to surrender while they just blast everyone on sight or someone saves them at the last second.

Palpatine and Plageus made Anakin with the force so technically there never was such a thing as Skywalkers. They were test tube babies. Everyone was really a Palpatine.

It was clunky and uninspired, but relatively satisfying and inoffensive. 5/10

If TLJ ruined your childhood, you aren't going to like this one, either. There are two women kissing, Rose still has a somewhat prominent role, and Rey still fricks shite up.
I saw it earlier and I have no idea what you are talking about.
I hated TLJ and really liked this movie. For God’s sake, JJ intentionally bitch slapped Rian Johnson and TLJ more than a couple of times in this movie.
It completely rolled back TLJ.
Rose wasn’t prominent. What movie did you see? She had no part of the plot, no arch and very little screen time. JJ intentionally put in a scene that side lined her character.

This. Rose was a VERY tiny part of this movie.

None of this matters one iota when it comes to the movies. We aren’t watching the books, or watching video games, we are watching movies that have their own stories and follow their own set of rules.
These movies weren’t made with the intent the moviegoer has some knowledge of the books or video games.
There was a ton of opportunity to show different and more advanced force powers in the prequels, when Jedi were prevalent. Yoda and Anakim and Palpatine were the gold standard. To have someone who had zero training do things none of them were capable of is absurd.
What movie “established that there were extremely powerful force users out there with no training” as you said?

IKR? The post that said she is prominent in the movie is patently absurd.
She was demoted to a bit part and was just around as part of the group whenever there were Resistance base scenes with Leia.
JJ totally sidelined the character.
