Which is why this movie sucks. I absolutely loathed the Last Jedi, but what was done was done. Instead of apologizing for what happened, JJ Abrams and co. should have accepted what happened in Episode XIII and moved the story forward.

I agree. The idea Rey was a "nobody" would have led to endless possibilities and even though I did not like the way she was built up to that point, it would have been better than saying "oh, she is the spawn of the most powerful Sith ever".

Where is the disconnect for you between missing the point and not caring about your point?

Your point is completely irrelevant to anything I've said.

You clearly cared about my point because you responded to it

I had yet to respond to anything you said until you responded to me.

I’ll lay it out to you, since it is apparently too difficult for you.

Poster argued that Rey had this ability because she had a connection to the dark side.
That is a cop out excuse because plenty others had a connection to the dark side, like Luke, that this ability was not available. So, Rey’s connection to the dark side is not what gave her this ability plain and simple.

Again, completely irrelevant.

You fricked up. Get over it.

This game you like to play on here is very tiresome.

You respond to someone, arguing against their point. Are shown that your comment has no bearing on the point you incorrectly thought they were making, then just say they lost over and over again. It’s sophomoric.

One of the biggest reasons people needed some type of lineage for her was because of her ability to do things without any training. Even after TFA, people argued that her ability to use all these force powers and lightsaber and what not was because she was a Skywalker, reincarnation of Anakin, was already trained as a child, etc. it was even floated she was the reincarnation of Palpatine back then.

There would be nothing wrong with her being a nobody. Just write her character in a way that she isn’t a Mary Sue and her lineage isn’t important.

So I read that they're saying that Palpatine always knew how to heal from death because apparently he is Darth Plageuis the entire time. That Sidious failed and Plageuis took over his body and planned to do the same to Anakin until Obi Wan beat him. Then he wanted to use Luke and Vader killed him so now he just wants Rey.

Idk, this entire movie seems to shite all over any consistency, canon, or prior plots. And Im hardly deep in to the lore and I saw that

I enjoyed this move in terms of entertainment but god damn what a shite show in terms of actual plot. Basically turning star wars into Fast and Furious.

I could have lived with it, but they fricked up in the second movie with Luke basically refusing to do much.

Like, in TFA, if she would have "accidentally" used force powers to escape, it would have set up nice.

Anyway, it is what it is now. They wrote themselves into a corner and frankly, if they bring her back, the power creep will be retarded.

Yep. How I feel about it too. Same with TFA. JJ can make very entertaining movies. The action sequences were very well done, and movie had some gorgeous shots. The movie is entertaining. That’s not the issue with it.

The fact that she turned out to be a direct descendant and not a clone of Palpatine raises many, many questions. Never once in the prequels or the original trilogy was there any hint of Palpatine being anything other than asexual. The only thing he seemed to love was power.

Show me. Don't tell me. Not once in any of the previous films did we ever see Palpatine with another woman. Rey being Palpatine's granddaughter is completely out of left field.

Rey being a nobody was stupid and would have gone against the Star Wars lore. The fact that "anyone can be a Jedi" is stupid and thankfully JJ but an end to that bullshite

So was Vader being Luke's Father.

And by ending the bullshite he turned the saga on its head with a shoehorned Palpatine-as-the-final-boss plot line. Never once explained how Palpatine made it out of the Death Star alive, completely invalidating the six films that came before the sequel trilogy, and ending the saga on a messy note.

This trilogy wasn't the Skywalker saga. It was the Palpatine saga.

Here's the difference though...Vader being Luke's father, while out of left field, didn't seem forced, raised the stakes and didn't contradict the narrative.

Anakin was a nobody......

If you are going to regulate the force to "breeding", well........

But not once was Palpatine talked about in The Force Awakens or The Last Jedi. All of a sudden he's front and center in the final film of the saga.

Eh, not really. I wouldn’t call the living embodiment of the force, a nobody
