Yep, there's footage in the trailers of him throwing the shield around in Louisiana, with Bucky it looks like. Unless it's clever editing. After the "we can't just beat him up and take it line" I'm really curious what happens to Walker that Sam gets the shield back.

Nope. Not going to get me this time. He's Ralph Boner and that's all he will ever be in the MCU.
Also, is anyone else having a hard time hating John Walker? When they originally introduced him I did, but the 2nd episode really humanized him. He is legit and earned his rep as a soldier in the army. He didn't seek out the title, it was given to him by the government. He's just trying to fulfill his duty to his country. I can't be mad at him for that.
I do however hate that the government wants to pimp out a new CA that they can control, even though just a few years earlier they considered CA a fugitive of the law.
