Hell, I watched the first episode of BB prob 3 times spread out over a year-year and a half before I went to episode 2. Then I never looked back.

But it takes time to get into a show. I liked this pilot a lot.

Man, really enjoyed the pilot! I was curious how much of Breaking Bad it was going to bring in, and I wasn't expecting a lot, but right from the start with Saul in a Cinnabon in Omaha you could tell it was going to be linked to BB in a big way. Then the end:

Also, completely lost it when Saul was representing those 3 boys talking about how they were young, they didn't kill anybody, etc., and the guy turns on the video and they are doing the head.

Pilot was fantastic. The B&W is what caught my attention and I knew the episode was going to 'drag', but it has to for right now. We get to see Saul's hardships and struggles before he became the man later on.. that's what makes this very interesting to me.

That ending though

This is from Sepinwall's review of the pilot.

quote:

We meet Chuck, and see that he believes he's suffering from electromagnetic hypersensitivity — a condition that's not acknowledged as an official diagnosis by the medical establishment, even if the assorted symptoms felt by people like Chuck can be real — that's leading him to live a blacked-out existence, with anything electrical kept outside his home.

I don't get this.

Do people think Breaking Bad was fast paced? What about other shows like The Sopranos, The Wire, and Mad Men?

The greatest shows of our generation right now are slow. They tell stories at a slow pace, allowing settings and scenes to fully flourish without the Michael Bay-type cut scenes and laugh tracks and other bullshite to keep the attention of the plebes.

Enjoy the slowness. You did if you liked Breaking Bad.

I absolutely liked it. I think you read what I said wrong because I was just pointing out that the slow-paced feeling is necessary.

I was more so making a point to the whole thread. Seems like so many people are commenting on its pacing as if it's negative.

People just staring at each other over dinner for 4 minutes isn't necessary to convey the awkward silence.

The Mike portion had nothing to do with the plot of the episode and could have been saved for later.

I can see how it was very useful. This first episode we are seeing how horrible of a time Saul/Jimmy is having starting out in his fledgling "law firm". Mike being the attendant was necessary I think because Jimmy wasn't going to get through such a tough character and wasn't going to get through that gate. That not only made Jimmy irritated but shows how nothing goes right for him (at this point).

For anyone that is able to say it is going to suck after watching 30 minutes of the pilot...wow, that's insane.

To use a food analogy...Breaking Bad is like the best gumbo you've ever had. All of the ingredients were perfect, seasoned just right and something you will never forget. Right now for Better Call Saul...we're just now making the roux. Lots of ingredients yet to be added.

Agree. I mean, the main character of BCS is an attorney. This isn't Transformers.

You didn't catch that he asked Jimmy if he grounded himself before he came in? Also that he had to leave his cell phone in the mail box.
