Looks like episode 2 will show that Tuco is a bad man. You don't have to have seen BB to get that.

That's true I guess. Just like you'd have no idea who the parking attendant was. I'm guess the beginning will be explained over a few episodes but as a stand alone scene you really have no reference as to what's going on.

Excellent pilot episode.

-The B&W beginning was beautifully done. I'm curious if we'll have multiple B&W scenes throughout the season.
-Seeing Mike made me
-I'm curious about the relationship between Saul & the blonde that was in the car garage
-The scene where Saul planned out the entire plot with the skaters was pure gold.
-TUCO!

Question, during BrBa did we know that Saul Goodman wasn't his real name? For some reason I think we did. But I can't put my finger on the exact situation.

Yes...it's stated that he changed his name to Saul Goodman to sound Jewish to get clients

Yeah, that was definitely intended more for the viewers than for Jimmy.

Sure, the episode (until the end) was "slow" but it was good. As for all the Breaking Bad references, it looks like the show will get everybody up to speed within the confines of this show's universe so non BB watchers will get the general picture.

Even people that never saw BB should get that since this show is obviously taking place in the recent past, the very first scene was in the present day and obviously something happens to put Jimmy/Saul behind the counter at a Cinnabon somewhere along the way.

Was hoping he would catch news of Walter whites last actions on national news.

But there is a definite tone of "if you have a less than positive opinion of the show, frick off" from some people.

Yeah, there absolutely are some guys that jump down people's throat as soon as they don't like something, but that was his third post within about 10 minutes dogging it, with all three of them containing no context other than "This show sucks. I don't like it." When it gets to that point, it's simply trolling.

I do agree that there are posts on the other end of the spectrum that can be criticized as well, though.

I agree. BB was arguably one of the top cable dramas of all time. This show was created by the same guy. You only give it 30 minutes in the pilot? Obvious troll.

I'll give any show a few episodes. I consider Gotham to be horseshite but I gave it 4-5 episodes before I threw in the towel.

Exactly. It's not going to pick up at the level breaking bad ended on.

The pilot was interesting enough to keep me watching. I was planning to watch half tonight because it is getting late but it kept me throughout.

No show really should be evaluated until at least 4 episodes.

I think some are upset by this pilot because of how different it was than the BB pilot in tone, action, and pacing. I enjoyed the pilot, but way too many expect this show to be exactly like Breaking Bad. It's not, nor will it ever be. Just because the shows exist in the same world and are created by many of the same people doesn't mean they will feel the same.

Set a small foundation, decent pilot, didn't like the oldman Saul spoiler giving Br Ba fans too much a look into his future(unlike those that may be watching for the first time)..too much confirmation of the suspected.

Look for Tuco in Ep2 to ramp up the sparks, giving Saul his first true 'heavy' client.

Decent Pilot, but it feels forced now...

They went too in your face with having Mike and Tuco make appearances in the Pilot. I don't think there was any reason to show Mike at this point if you were going to throw Tuco in. The Mike portion had nothing to do with the plot of the episode and could have been saved for later.

It was kind of a "Hey BB fans, here it is, all your favorite characters" when it wasn't necessary at this point. We all know they will eventually come along, so no need to force it.

Waiting to see how tonights episode goes

I agree

I gave it a solid B. I'll give it 4-5 episodes before making judgement but my doubts from the beginning were if Saul could carry a show by himself.

Some of the acting from the supporting characters were pretty bad. The stoners were awful

So far not bad. Looking forward to tonight

I enjoyed the show, and I am looking forward to watching the next episode.

I don't think it will take very long before non BB watchers figure out Tuco is a dangerous man.
