Holy shite we just got out and it was a fantastic film. Marvel definitely hit a grand slam

While I thought the first two acts weren’t nearly as good as the third, that didn’t make them bad or boring. I just don’t feel like I’ll really need to rewatch the first two acts again, whereas I’ll happily watch the end multiple times.

You’re clearly in the minority, though. It was an overall great film with an extraordinary climax.

Got out of a 9PM showing. Movie was all over the place.

Hawkeye and Nebula were great.

Witch had the best return.

Cap with Mjolnir was great.

Widow and Hawkeye fighting over who should die... what?

Girl power scene was fine if you ignore the fact the Danvers doesn't need any of their help... like at all.

Time travel stuff is silly.

Wish Drax had gotten a good shot in on Thanos. Hell, none of the Guardians did anything really.

Undecided on Fat Thor. He was fun in a movie that was a bit on the sad side.

Hail RDJ. He nailed his last few scenes.

We had three snaps in this movie. We should have had one, tops. It cheapens the epic quest of Thanos to get the stones in the first place (and everyone attempting to stop him).

Signatures? C'mon...

Hayley Atwell

Overall, a good film. But somewhat disappointing.

let's revisit this in s few weeks cause I bet once the newness wears off, you will be in the minority. This wasn't a bad movie, just slow and all over the place.

Nebula literally knew how Thanos obtained the Soul Stone at the end of Infinity War. Hence why Quill loses it and attacks Thanos.

How could this not have been mentioned during their planning? "Oh, by the way, one of you is going to have to commit suicide."

Which is why it was completely unnecessary. 12 seconds of pandering...shocked they included this in the final act of the film.

I went back and forth. Overall, I'm not thrilled with the direction they took him.

Agree.

I'd place it slightly above AoE. Below the first Avengers and definitely below IW.

What about the cheeseburger reference to Happy. I thought that was great. Daughter responds with the first thing Tony said to him when he got back from being captive.

I liked this reference and liked to think it was a nice nod to Favreau for being the director that started this whole thing.

I have a feeling that “it was a great film” won’t be the minority’s opinion. I’m not the guy who said this is his favorite film of all time.

Some thoughts:
Loved the nod to Once upon a Time in the West with the opening scene.

A little long.
The end fight could have been a bit shorter, for sure. The girl power thing is SOOOO on the nose.

Would actually love the choice of Mackey (Never loved Chris Evans) as new Cap if it weren’t for how I pictured the broken record SJW storyboard staffers circle jerking each other for being so progressive.

It was time for Tony to go. Great choice.

As far as sequels or revamps go, (which, by the way, c’mon Disney. Let’s wait half a decade or so.) I have zero idea what they could do for Villains. Just don’t know what you could take seriously after Thanos. Also, I wonder if they’ll run into the same doomsday weapon problem in the infinity stones as Star Wars has struggled with since the first Death Star.

Aww did that wittle 30 second scene (of a 2 1/2 hour long movie) of girl power bother you? Even though an overwhelming majority of the Avengers were bros, the past decade of movies it's mainly been bros kicking arse, and, after months of whining that Cap Marvel was gonna defeat Thanos, a bro defeats him anyway.

When I got out of the theater, I told myself that I am 110% guys on TD will be complaining about that small part.

One question I have

2014 Thanos jumped to 2023 and died there, so the original snap never happens in any other timeline except 2023 because 2014 Thanos is the end of the line. He no longer exists after that correct?

The snap only exists in the 2023 timeline because it happened in the past and that’s it, right?

Timeline drawing to explain

2014............,.......2018 snap..........................2023
\ _________________________________ / dies here
\_Thanos__________________________/

So the dotted only happens in the 2023 timeline because 2014 Thanos dies in the future. Nothing in the 2023 past changed like the Hulk said but the future of 2014 timeline changes?

Best moment without a doubt was when you saw Mjolnir go flying away from Thor, and you knew it was about to be picked up by Cap. I don't think i could have smiled any bigger, or had bigger goose bumps when he attacked Thanos with it.

And i haven't had multiple tears roll down my face like that in a long time, and definitely never from a frickin movie. I feel like if i ever see RDJ, i'll simply tip my hat to him out of respect. I've been a Cap guy from the get go, but that "I am Iron Man" line was awesome.

was also pretty awesome once Dr. Strange started opening the portals and everyone started coming through, "on your left Cap"

"that is america's arse"
"I can go all d..." "i know, i know"
Rocket saying "boo"
enjoyed Korg, wasn't a big fan of fat Thor.

Some time travel thoughts:
Cap went back to i would assume sometime in the 40's after he went down in the ice. I doubt he hid for decades so people must have assumed he was back, which means his body that went in the ice is still there, and if it is, then he isn't there for the first Avengers movie.

Cap brought all the stones back, so how did he give the soul stone back? I doubt you just throw it down there and that's its. a soul for a soul, so you give the stone back, and get to take a soul back (Black Widow).

Where's Gamora? Am i too assume she was dusted?

Does Loki have the Tesseract? seems like a lot of things would have happened differently in the past just from that happening. that would mean scarlett witch is never created.

Wasn't a fan of Cap giving the shield to Sam, but I'll allow it since Sam gave Bucky the respect to sort of make sure it was ok with him before accepting it. It's not that i think Bucky should have it over him, it's more b/c i like him as Falcon, and want him to continue to be Falcon.

Also, where the hell did Captain Marvel go? she just sort of disappeared for some time.

All in all, i enjoyed the hell out of it. I agree the first 2 hours were a bit slow, but necessary, but that last hour was awesome.

But when you think of the women of the Marvel Cinematic Universe what woman comes to mind?

Wasp

It's ok to admit she's your favorite female character, but you're going off the rails. The Wasp in nowhere near close to the lead female avenger in the MCU. There will be a huge chunk of people who see this movie who won't even know who she is bc not everyone even bothered watching the Ant-Man films. She had like 45 seconds of screentime lmao

Not a fan of time travel being the mulligan that bails our heroes out.

idk maybe IW had a high bar but this movie was good but landed nowhere near that mark for me. Felt like the paradoxes weren’t adequately addressed and Thanos wasn’t as good of a character in this movie. Went to full generic villain mode without any of the intricacies that made him so interesting in IW.

Liked how they ended Captain America and Iron Man’s respective arcs.

The hyperbole involving that scene is hilarious. Of course, it was worth chuckles and eye rolls. That doesn’t mean it was worth more thought than that. It had zero affect on the movie for me. Same with the “silver lining” of whales in New York because less ships means fewer pollution. You notice it but it means so little that it shouldn’t change anyone’s overall opinion of the film.
