I could see the Joker looking at Bane uttering "I think I like this guy".

I seriously doubt Bane and Joker would have been in the same film. They're just too much of over powering pressences to both be present. I'd bet the initial plan was for the A bomb project still, while Joker just took the city straight to chaotic hell and put it on lockdown similarly to how Bane did it.

It was at least 45 minutes too long with not enough character development, too many flashbacks, an ill-conceived pit story, many moments of complete absurdity and unbelievably bad dialogue. The whole love for this movie totally escapes me. The best part of the movie was when it finally ended.

Synopsis: tortured superhero, bombastic evil guy, evil guy gets it in the end, good guy dies, too. Everything in-between was fluff and filler. Yawn. Proof, once again, that explosions and loud noise is what audiences want, damn any hint of a decent story and dialogue.

God it must be hard being such a genius, sorry not everyone was expecting a nod to Italian neo-realism for a summer superhero movie.

Late to the party on this one. Thoughts (good and bad) below:

- I was very wary of Catwoman/Selina Kyle in this film. I thought it was handled about as well as it could have been. She did have some cheesy lines that I could have done without though. And you need to turn off the mind when a woman in high heels starts kicking arse.

- I loved Bane as a villain. I will need to watch this on DVD when it comes out and turn on the subtitles as I did miss a few things he was saying though

- Sending the entire police force into the sewer was pretty stupid

- Loved the ending. Didn't read through this whole thread but it was the perfect way to end the trilogy - Batman became the symbol of justice for Gotham. This is what Wayne always wanted and I'm pretty sure it was even said in the first movie. He "died" for the city and they even erected a statue of him. The people of Gotham now have that.

obviously it was a great movie, i hated the Bane death.

the man deserved a much better way to go out, it happened so quickly i was expected him to get back up.

And Alfred was a bit whiny...Those were my two small gripes...

Per usual, I agree with pretty much everything you said. I was in West Monroe yesterday and after I got done doing what I came to do my two buddies said they hadn't got to watch the movie yet and there was a theatre in the mall for $3. I've watched maybe two or three movies ever a second time in the theatre. I've watched this one three times, forts time I've ever done that. It honestly has gotten better each time I've watched it. I love Bane. I actually feel bad for the dude because he was just a puppet and did everything out of love for Talia. That teardrop of his at th end is awesome. Shows he knew he was going to die for her and was happy with that. I'm fine with the way he died. Batman could have easily killed him while he was laying there before he got stabbed so he was fortunate just to get up after that and it gave the audience a "Catwoman decided to come back, she actually cares about the city and Batman" answer. Bane got blasted away, nothing wrong with that

There was a good Forbes article I read the other day that convinced me that Robin will take over as Batman, not just as Robin. The ending was extremely symbolic, as the platform began to rise under jgl's feet, the screen cut away and the title dark knight rises appears.

The character that he displayed in TDKR was a Robin to Batman. You didn't know that was his name and he was in a police uniform but he was still Batmans wing man in a sense even though he didn't have a cape. They gave him coordinates to the lair, that shows that Bruce wanted him to find it. He gave hints throughout the movie that anyone could be Batman and that a mask was necessary. Batman was retired and ran away and has another life with Selina just like she wanted. The final scene was to show that Gotham wasn't going to be without a Batman, even if it wasn't Bruce Wayne.

But dear god don't let them make a movie with JGL as Batman. It was perfect knowing he will be Gothams Batman. Knowing is enough, I don't want to watch it.

First off, how is it 45 minutes too long and not enough character development? Did you think they could shorten it and have more character development. Let's just watch a whole movie on character development that would be awesome I'm down for that.

Secondly, he's Mr Lover Lover. Mr Lover Lover.
She call me Mr Boombastic she say me fantastic.
Touch me in me back she say I'm Mr Ro Ro... Romantic evil guy.

I saw it Satruday night and I thought it was awesome. Better than the Avengers by a mile. Bane was a bad mofo. I want to see it this time in IMAX 3D or the other screen where the chairs move.

BUT! My love of the movie is dropping a little because I feel like Nolan's ending was a little unoriginal.

I don't get the complaints about Bane's death. It took the dude getting hit by a missile to die.

A missile.

Batman could have killed him before he got stabbed. He was already "defeated" by Batman. No need for Batman to have to come back and defeat him again. He was fortunate to be alive at that point anyway.

he could have....but where's the drama in that? Plus, he was trying to get him to talk.....

....add to the fact, they needed a way to reveal Talia.

Batman doesn't kill.
That's why the mechanism (and human cause) of Bane's death was necessary.

Well that's kind of my point. They needed those things to happen so it was almost necessary for Catwoman to kill Bane. What other satisfaction could someone have gotten from the Batman/Bane battle? That's why I was fine with Catwoman killing him.

Saw it for the second time today. There's definitely little subtle hints about Talia that you catch on second viewing that are missed the first time.
