I think they tried packing too much into this movie and didn't give the Bane character enough chance to develop. Could have been better
and can someone explain to me the point of Captain Jones? Seemed like he served no purpose

Hardy saves it from being a disaster, but there's still little depth to the character. It's Nolan's fault for obscuring Hardy's most prominent features for the whole movie, albeit maybe 1 second. I was disappointed when it was announced that he was playing Bane -- the equivalent of Venom -- an over-hyped, shallow, and fairly uninteresting villain. Hardy does what he can with it and makes some risky choices (some of them pay off and some of them don't), but I, again, blame Nolan's creative decisions.
By prominent features, I assume you mean his face? You do realize that the character of Bane wears a mask obscuring his face in the comics, right? If anything, Hardy managed to bring depth to a character who symbolized little more than the ultimate physical obstacle to Batman

Matthew Modine's character.
ah. I thought his name was Foley? Anyway, his character could have been more developed, to say the least, but I thought the point was to show ordinary, flawed citizens exhibiting courage and rising to the occasion against implacable evil

this seems to explain a lil bit more
interesting, thanks for posting that. Nolan should definitely have put that into the film. His death was a lame scene just as Banes and Talia's were. Seems Nolan really struggles with death scenes

Captain Jones is played by Daniel Sunjata
He was a Federal Agent sent into Gotham and was killed after like 3 minutes of screen time

Honestly, this might be the best Batman film Nolan has made imo. Emphasis on Batman...because The Joker was all I cared about in TDK.
BB wasnt that good a movie to me initially. It took some time and repeated viewings for me to gain a greater appreciation of it. I always liked the "Pre Batman" stuff....yet when Batman showed up..it was a little underwhelming and the villains werent that great. (Although a very nice twist) Still it was a very complete movie.
TDK is my favorite of the three. But I cant call it the best Batman Film....because Bale was awful in it imo. I only really cared about the Joker and he elevated the movie to another level. It was epic in that sense. However, the other problem I had with it was the very rushed ending. Moreso the rushed Two Face ending. He needed more time. There needed to be more of him putting in work as Two Face. To see him killed off was too disappointing.
Still this was my favorite and still is. However, I didnt feel it was as complete as the 1st movie. I still believe to this day.....
The Dark Knight should have been two movies. Like Tarantino did with Kill Bill. (Not comparing movies, just giving an example) I wanted to see more Joker and especially a better end to the Two Face character. Overall..Its still a classic.
This movie actually combined elements of the 1st two imo. It actually has the suspense and action of the 2nd one (though not as good) and the complete story as the 1st one (though not as good)
So it was just good enough.
However, I was truly ready to love this movie until the way they killed Bane off. He died in a way that would happen in a Joel Schumacher Batman movie (ok not that bad, but I understand that I was pissed
)
Here he was this badass for most of the movie and his death was so underwhelming. I had no problem with Talia being the mastermind behind it. Because although it lessened Bane a little bit....I liked the story of them being connected for many years and he always cared for her. It was truly good stuff. It should have been Batman defeating him and then after losing....
Bane rips off his own mask and decides to die....says something poetic or maybe lets Batman know of just how much he suffered or badass till the very end (Think the Penguin in Batman Returns: Yes I know most dont like the movie...but I thought his death was well done...until the penguins showed up, lol.)
Oh well. Just nitpicking.
I liked/loved all 3 movies.

Agree fully, and I dont realize why this hasnt been pointed out more. While TDK was more suspenseful, and of course the Joker was iconic, Bruce/batman as a character was completely neglected. TDKR returned to the focus of the trilogy- Bruce and his conflict- in a MUCH more satisfying, and emotional way

Yes he did. He discovers the auto pilot was fixed by Bruce Wayne.
No he didn't. Did you watch the movie?

You have numerous posts criticizing a film in which you cannot follow the basic plot points. That or you're just being a troll.

Fox discovers that Bruce programmed the autopilot on the aircraft six months ago. Alfred witnesses Bruce and Selina alive together at a café in Italy, while Blake inherits the Batcave

I should finish reading all posts before posting.

In his defense, the movie made it a point on two separate occasions to state that the autopilot was ineffective and that Lucius Fox hadn't figured it out yet.
But then Bruce Wayne fixed it.
They might as well have never mentioned that it didn't work.

Just got done watching it for the second time and enjoyed it as much as the first time. That being said there is one thing that bothers me, and I don't consider myself as an overly critical person when it comes to movies. I usually have no problem suspending disbelief and the first time through the film I did. I believe that batman does eject at the end, but right after the last shot we see of him in the bat, it cuts to the timer showing 5 seconds. Even if he does eject he still most certainly dies. The bat would have to be going 3000+ mph just to be out of the blast radius. Sure, maybe there is an implied time lapse and Nolan is just trying to mislead the audience, but it just bothered me. Is it a deal breaker, no way. Just something minor that stuck with me the second time around. Sorry, this has probably been discussed but I have only been keeping up with this thread periodically.
