it would have been very easy, and much more powerful, to instead have Bane give a little monologue on the sparse crowd, and how only the rich can afford to attend:

Do you know how many poor people attend Saints games?

With ya on that; I was trying to make some sort of excuse on why it was empty. I really wanted to be impressed by this film.

In fairness, this is freaking Batman. He has always had access to information on computers that no one else could even possibly hope to have. This was true in the comics, in the Burton/Schumacher films, and the animated series. I'm pretty sure the CIA would have a big fat file on a guy like Bane.

Alfred also prefaced it by saying those all were the rumors about Bane. He never claimed them to be fact.

All of my complaints were minor but this one is the one that irked me

The expository dialogue in the first 20 minutes was bad

Nobody if I had a choice.

I think Favreau is super overrated. Iron Man(s) don't hold up as well after multiple watches IMO. Cowboys and Aliens was a disaster. He would use too much cgi and it bothers me that he still thinks he's a good actor. He was never a good actor but I guess he thinks he's Eastwood or Orson Welles.

I guess Joss Whedon is a popular name. Very good record so far. Firefly, Serenity, Dr. Horrible, The Avengers. I like him. He made Iron Man better than Favreau did.

Just off the top of my head, Robert Rodriguez could be cool. Maybe. El Mariache, Deperado, From Dusk Till Dwn, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, SIN CITY. Could be a completely different style or he could maybe keep it similar because he's done some dark movies.

I know some people don't like Zack Snyder, but I do. We'll see how he does with the new superman. But I like his style, especially in The Watchmen.

I just took it as a ton of people jetted out of there after the the field collapsed. No point in staying. I wouldn't have been at the game anyway if my team has Hines Ward returning kickoffs.

the cops not looking ragged after spending 6 months in the sewer.

A nit pick that doesn't really bother me or hurt the plot.

This is supposed to be realistic, or at least "gritty" (whatever that means). We get to see Bruce Wayne looking all scruffy and gnarly in Batman Begins, and that was part of the appeal of this series. And yet after living in the sewer for 6 months, everyone's clean and well-groomed, and that one prick in particular in his dress uniform still is pristine. Not even dusty, much less disheveled. That is some blatant "I don't give a shite" production values. Like something out of Batman Forever...

Take a moment, imagine the visual impact of the cops... worn, faded, dusty blues on, five o'clock shadows and grim determination in their eyes, as they strode towards the mercenaries. Compare that to what we got. Makes a difference to me

He wasn't trapped underneath, and was hiding out in his house.

And weren't the police let out the night before, around 12-14 hours before they stormed City Hall?

I really couldn't care less how the cops appeared in that final scene. It just doesn't bother me. It's a nit pick because it does nothing to hurt the plot. And the reason why that guy had such a nice dress uniform on is because he hadn't been down in the sewers. He had been up top helping Gordon.

When she came up behind her and spooned with her my buddy turned to me and was like "Did I miss something?" I was She switched to lesbo for a moment or something.

Man, this was not a perfect movie but the nit pickiness of the last 5 or 6 pages is off the charts.

I liked the show up in flashy dress uniform because Gordon said earlier that he wasn't asking him to walk down that street wearing dress uniforms.

Nod to the comics. In a couple of Catwoman stories, she's kind of a mentor/protector to a younger girl learning the ropes.

Look, I went opening day. I did consider going to the midnight showing. I'm a big fan of the Nolan Batman series.

The issue is this- these (Nolan's) films are hailed as being fantastic movies, not just as superhero movies. People have gone on about them being Oscar-worthy material. I went in expecting to be wowed.

My gripes are this- the attention to detail in development, design, and art are lacking, compared to the prior work (gripes like the cops's appearances and the empty stadium). In an article about making John Carter, one of the art directors makes a cannon, and the director wants it to look old so he tells them to beat it with a hammer.

Where is the director's eye on things like that- hey, go rub some dirt on those guys, they're supposed to be emerging from the sewers to fight Batman's "war"... make them dirty and realistic like we see soldiers in the movies. Could have been done pretty easily in filming- you just get a couple sacks of dust, throw them into some blowers, and dust the guys before the shoot. Hell, you rented out part of Manhattan to film this realistically, take the extra steps to do it right. Or the stadium- wow, nice collapsing field; and perfectly timed to track Hines Ward back. Now go stick some fannies in the seats and we got a winner. You could copy/paste the fricking Romans from Gladiator in there, and it wouldn't be as distracting and obvious as giant swathes of empty yellow seats.

That's the nit-picking; it seems like the movie was darn close, and the guy running the whole thing just didn't proof it (or, give a shite).

To go from acclaiming it as best movie of the year, to making apologies for things that should have been caught before release, or in direction, sucks.

My gripes regarding Blake are that his character prevented a whole lot of acting and development from what should have been the major roles. As in: uh, how do we get from A to B in the story? Easy, Blake does it. Over and over.

While I somewhat agree with your overall sentiment of the film, the police were let out of the sewers the night before the raid on City Hall. It's not impractical to think they may have gone home and reconvened the following morning for the raid.

No one with a brain would think this. Is it possible they bit off more than they could chew

As much as I liked the movie, I think they did. I honestly wish the movie had been longer to allow more exposition of a few scenes.
