Uh, it's essentially the same concept. City will be blown to bits if we don't get the nuke away from the city, so let's have our hero sacrifice his life by diverting the bomb away from the city.

And yet TDKR feels like more is at stake because the nuke is the entire threat not something crammed in there with an easy out. Oh there is this trams dimensional portal conveniently here

The mere suggestion they ripped this off from the avengers is absurd. Might as well say they ripped it off from 24 season 2

You believe any of the people could take on 20 people at a time. Let's just turn this puppy into a documentary so every single aspect will be real. Not a superhero movie.

I'm certainly not saying they did.

I am saying, however, that it is a cliched, overused concept in films.

I think most people are forgetting that this is a movie. Not real life. You cannot touch on every freaking thing. Let's show a scene of Batman swimming back. Or a helicopter picking him up. Or a coast guard. That was part of the surprise by NOT showing him getting back. Dear god. It would have completely taken away from the shock factor. Hey let's make people think he was dead for a whopping two seconds. This is hilarious.

I'm talking about how he got back from the prison in order to save Gotham.

Glad I am not the only one left feeling that way. Maybe there was too much expectation. Not sure I will see it again until it comes out on DVD. I changed my mind at the last minute about doint the marathon - decided I could not sit in a theater that long. Could have done it 30 yrs ago, but not now. Glad I went Friday afternoon instead. Left theater feeling a little underwhelmed.

Agreed. I'm willing to watch it again before settling on a "meh" reaction.

Furthermore, Nolan isn't a fan of directors cuts, but I think we'll be seeing an extended edition of this one. To make everything crystal clear for everyone about everything this movie would have to be at least 3 hours and 15 minutes

Which is why they should've done this story in two parts.

Got ya. My apologies then. The "it's a movie" aspect still applies to that though.

Not a big deal. It obviously took alot of time and in a 2:45 movie I don't need to see this scene

Though I woul like to

It was my impression that the Batmobile was a heavy custom job.

Lots of features appeared in the second one that you wouldn't expect out of the military version. Batpod, automated controls.

If it was just a paint job, you would think he would have just nabbed another Tumbler and replaced it.

Things in this film happened too fast for lots of modifications like that.

All we know is that he was still flying it over the bay, and stayed with it still at least 40 seconds or so till detonation. And he was still in the cockpit with 10 seconds to go (however he might have been floating in parachute)

That arguement is silly.

They did that job well enough with making it "clear" that there is no autopilot, and having a funeral for Wayne.

No need to have a trick of editing lock them to having the end making no sense

Nobody ever told me how they felt about these things...

At one point Bruce told Blake that anybody can be Batman. You find out that his name is Robin but with what Bruce said and him finding the layer it could make you think that he was taking over as Batman. Maybe?

Or when Alfred saw Bruce and Selena at the end, do you think he basically retired or was just on a break because the spotlight with his symbol was in the spotlight?

Also, do you think Talia and Bane were lovers?

Wayne is done, and moved on.

That isn't really up for debate. They all but clearly stated it.

One "possible" argument for the spotlight is that the groundwork was laid for Blake to be Batman now.

No clue about the last question, but entirely possible

Just because of Blake being in the layer? I have to think on crap for a while so I start thinking about a bunch of crap/options.

What was the age difference between Talia and Bane? She was a child when he helped free her. She was in her 30's in the movie. So would that put Bane in his 40's?

No, I don't think they were lovers.

Probably. And I doubt Nolan wanted to end the film this way.

He is merely "renting" the Batman brand, and I'm sure someone at WB told him to provide some wiggle room at the end that would allow for future films.

Ultimately, the film's ending almost requires additional films. And, unfortunately, there is going to be an entirely new director and production team behind it.

Not so much as him being in the lair, but because he was SENT there.

The bag containing GPS coordinates and the tools to enter via the cave enterence.

Also, the "tips" given in interactions between the two

So use a little CGI to fill the stadium. They could have done that easily; and if anyone had given a crap, it would've been pointed out early in production.

Very good point. I noticed this too. They only had 11,000 extras for that scene. It was full in the opening shot but within minutes of the detonation it was sparse.

Also, in Batman Begins, Ra's says they must destroy Gotham because it has been corrupted yet in TDKR it shows it is a safe city again so why did the League still want to destroy it besides revenge?

They could be shots of him in the cockpit when he's still in the city, but were edited to give the audience the initial impression that it was a suicide mission.

That would be not only intentionally deceptive, but lazy and stupid.
