people try and still have this open office space layout and it's garbage

The people in my office actually voted to go to an open office plan, so they got rid of all of the offices and put us in a room together. I hate it.

I would liked to have lived in California in the late 80’s and 90’s.

Idiocracy was one of the most uncomfortable movies I’ve watched. It was terrifying to me to imagine being Luke Wilson in that situation

I think it's borderline terrible, but for some reason everyone here adores that movie. The only thing I can think of is that I watched it on TV, so it was edited some. But even watching it that way, it just wasn't very good IMO, and I've always wondered why people seem to hold it up as some sort of classic like Office Space.

It’s A flawed movie but that’s because it was neutered by the studio. Office space is a better movie in just about every way. However, idiocracy is filled with some hilarious scenes and characters.

I don’t know how you can watch idiocracy and not laugh. The real brilliance of the movie that no one thinks that movie is making fun of them.

I don't think I made it through the movie. I had absurdly high hopes going in because Office Space was one of my favorite movies, and I think my high expectations set up Idiocracy for failure. I, too, got uncomfortable thinking about being in Wilson's shoes in the movie, and Maya Rudolph's character was just annoying.

My one positive takeaway from the movie was a video about it that Judge made, where he said they chose to make everyone where Crocs because they were the stupidest footwear ever invented.

Just re-watched thanks to this thread. First time I have watched it since I retired. Hits differently now that I am retired. Was a bit to realistic when I was in corporate cube land, and a bit depressing. Loved this latest re-watch!

Interesting that this thread was almost exactly a year before Covid shutdowns and the height of the open concept/ping pong table era of these type of jobs. Seems like the reaction to the satire of Office Space was this day care ification of office life which in some ways was even worse than the cube life

Now we’re in another evolution of the office life with WFH/hybrid life

You think this movie would have ended TPS reports but the number of "TPS reports" I have to fill out each week is insane.

I literally have to send out 3 weekly bullet point emails each week to various useless people whose entire job is to collect bullet points. I also have bi-weekly and monthly versions of this shite.

Ha! Man what a waste of time! I went through this in the last few years before I retired. Dozens of us were filling out these stupid bullet pointed reports that we all knew no one was reading. It was such BS.
