I keep hearing and seeing things that point to them going the Atlantis route. There are a lot of rumors, the screenwriter has hinted about a lot of research he's doing about the deep ocean. But nothing in BvS pointed in this direction. Everything that was teased about a future villain was Darkseid related. So the villain will probably be Darkseid, but I think they're jumping the gun again here and missing a great story about how Aquaman joins the the JL.

Then again, Geoff Johns supposedly was a big inspiration for the movie. I can't see them bringing in Aquaman without telling his Thrones story when they do it. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

My hope right now is that a solo batman film directed without Synder influence and the release of SS and WW movies will be enough to allow for JL tap the brakes until WB/DC can find a decent story teller.

I hope this as well.

It's just SOOOOOOO frustrating! I really do get why some people are able to look past all the glaring issues with this movie to get to a place where they say they like it. I wanted to love it SO MUCH, and every once in a while I found tid bits that I did REALLY love.

I felt like a damn kid when Superman and Batman finally got together and had words. I liked Superman's threat when he ripped the hood off the Batmobile, Batman's total lack of fear about it, and when they finally fought. I also really liked Batman's take on how Superman, given his near godlike powers, could never REALLY be courageous or brave because he was never at risk, nothing to really lose. And some of it looked great...

But the story/s that went everywhere and nowhere at the same time...ugh.

It would not have taken a huge amount to have made this a great movie...but adding things to it won't make it better. Removing things and making the ONE story they needed to tell more tight would ahve been the way to go I think. Unfortunately, that is clearly not Snyder's strong suit.

I'd say I'm a casual fan and that story doesn't really interest me at all.
That's what I'm thinking. But don't be surprised because the rumors are rampant.

Also, you've kind of boxed yourself with Superman's "death" I'm thinking any type of resurrection would involve Darkseid
It looked to me like he could come back on his own using life and or the sun. Maybe a mother box will come into play. We may be looking at a JL War type of scenario.

If this happens, It'll be interesting to see how Aquaman fits into things. He doesn't show up in that story line until after the fight with Darkseid.

It literally says that exact thing in MoS.

I stand corrected...well done. I was referencing what I thought I heard Jor El say when they were loading him up, but he too says essentially the same thing there. Linked here:

LINK

Not sure where that got dropped into my brain...I'd have sworn that's what was said. Kind of odd that it needed to be addressed like that in a Youtube video given it was stated like that in the movie, but I'm clearly not the only one to have gotten that message some how.

Anyway...good catch. If it indeed was established that way in MoS then this was a good pull in BvS.

With that many non-replaceable actors, you can't push back a production like this. They all have movies scheduled to start production after they're done with Justice League.

I've personally never been a big Aquaman guy, but I don't hate him. I kind of dug the look they came up with for him, etc...but...if every time he's on screen he looks as uncomfortable in the water as he looked in BvS, then wow! Was anyone else taken aback by how he looked in the close-up? The guy looked like he hated having his eyes open under water and the chlorine was stinging his eyes and he kept blinking uncomfortably... As a guy that's not a big swimmer and doesn't like opening my eyes under water, this was so familiar look to me.

The dirt float scene
Plus
The bell can't be unrung
Plus
He is coming...among the stars
Plus
Scenes of his flying minions in an evil superman alternate future

Yeah, i was convinced they were going straight to Darkseid.

Holding back the gag now.

The story is great, but I have no fricking clue how they'll film the underwater scenes and have them look good. That seems like a nightmare for a director.

I'm thinking that the domed city of Atlantis will have air inside instead of water. I doubt they'll have scenes with people conversing underwater.

You'll still have underwater fights, but the majority of stuff will take place on dry land.

They have to go with Darkseid or they make BvS even worse than it is.

I was thinking about it yesterday and I think that's the only way they can do it. That's the only way it can work in live action.

They've opened up too much already. Which means, the JL is going to be thrown together and they're going to fight the best villain in DC. All in one movie. It would be like Marvel making The Avengers immediately after Iron Man 2 and having Thanos as the villain. SMH. So disappointing.

yellow sun

This was pounded into my brain by Fat Brando in the Christopher Reeves era.

All Gen xers know about the yellow sun.

...and it was rising and shining on Superman as Bat was lowering him to Lois and Ww...so there's that, I guess.

I'd prefer this to the Marvel method of talking about Thanos for ten years before he does anything in a movie.

Superman's power NOT coming from Earth's yellow sun, right? That is NEVER said in that movie

Uhh yes it is discussed. A few times by Jor-El. BVS has enough legitimate reasons to bash on, lets not start making things up just to kick it further down the hole.

That's a good point, but what ever they do, they can't kill Darkseid in this movie. They can make him a recurring villain the series. If they do that, I'll be fine with it. Either that, or let him make an appearance at the end, kind of like Voldemort in The Order of the Phoenix. Let there be a battle, but no complete resolution. But even HP built up to that with many movies. I just hope it works out. The lack of build up concerns me.

Right...I'm 45. It was a huge deal in the original movies. What I was saying was that I somehow missed that in the MoS movie...even though it was stated twice as posted here. In fact, I somehow heard something different...and given the Youtube video addressing it I'm not the only one. Seems a weird thing for a large portion of people to have been mistaken about, but I admitted that I was wrong.

I was thinking of the scene on Krypton where they were loading him up...and as it turns out, his mom picked the planet and Jor El points to the young yellow sun and how his cells would drink up the radiation. It's not that I didn't know he backstory it's that I DID and that I heard some other reason for his strength. I had attributed it as yet another thing they changed about his origin story, when in fact they kept that part the same.

It was an honest mistake on my part, and I'm actually glad to have had this pointed out...I'm not happier with them being even further from their true characters, so this is a nice find that will make me happier when I see this scene again when re-watching BvS at home.
