It's looking like the Justice League movie may be based on Atlantis as a threat and may not feature Darkseid. I hope this is true as using the Darkseid card this soon would be a mistake by showing too much too early. And DC has made enough of those mistakes lately. There's also a GREAT story that surrounds Atlantis and Aquaman. I for one would love this. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if DC and WB blow their fricking load and rush Darkseid on this one.

A new rumor has surfaced in regards to the villain of WB's Justice League film. Apparently Batman and Wonder Woman will track down Cyborg, Flash and Aquaman to wage battle with Atlantis, not Darkseid.
ould Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. be using Darkseid and Apokolips as misdirection for the real antagonists of the Justice League film? On El Mayimbe's new YouTube show, the divisive fanboy journalist reveals that he's hearing rumors that Atlantis will attack the surface world in the first Justice League film and will serve as the primary antagonists, not Darkseid and his Parademons. Details are scarce but from what little is revealed, it's possible the film be based on Geoff Johns' 2012 miniseries, Throne of Atlantis.

Batman and Supes are going to spend the first 80% of the movie fighting Aquaman, defending the surface from Atlantis.....
Then, when all is lost, and Aquaman is pinned down, certain death, hes going to whimper his nanny's name....Marta....all is forgiven, they become besties, Super Friends and all high five each other
Darkseid will arrive, inexplicably, and they will team up and save the day

Keep in mind that we had a thousand rumors prior to BvS, and 99% of them were false.

Oh I know. I just think this would be a good move by DC. I do think that a lot of people may be pissed off initially because there would be no Darkseid, but I think they need to just make a good movie right now with a basic story like this one. Knowing WB though, they'll probably overstuff the shite out of it and try to give us two movies in one.

Not dogging you. I spread more rumors than anyone prior to BvS.
I'm not a fan of Aquaman being a villain, other than he and Diana having a Crips/Bloods uneasiness around each other because of their ancestral battles. It would be nice if the JLA formed to battle a more singular villain than an assault from Apokolips (Despero, Amazo, etc.).
But at least an Apokolips attack leaves a lot of lesser threats to be taken out by Batman and Aquaman. (So they're not standing around as with Batman-Superman-Wonder-Woman vs Doomsday.)

I don't think you necessarily have to make Aquaman a villain. If it's based on the Geoff Johns comic, it would be Orm and Black Manta. It's a really good story with good motivations. They could easily knock it out of the park.

Some beautiful concept art for the movie.
I don't think that anyone would've liked this version of Doomsday, but the art is awesome.

The forecast was something around 1.2 billion, and they may not make within half a billion of that

Ok, they did, why would you be so smug? If it makes $450 million less than they were expecting, what does this mean for other Warner Bros projects? It means that that $450 million is not going on to finance more films. Heads will still roll for radically missing that forecast.

There is a difference between smug and laughing at the guy with a sales mentality.
And you really shouldn't be saying anything after making the statement "it might not make half billion from 1.2".
if it makes 1.1, I'm sure we will see shite all over the board with "told you so"

It'll finish between 850-900 million. Not terrible numbers but definitely not what they expected either. A well received BvS would've made 1.5 billion IMO.

quote:I think after test screenings they began to see that this movie may not make what they originally wanted. I think they knew this months ago. That's why they didn't allow certain critics to see it early and why they had the embargo. Chris Terrio said some pretty telling words a little while ago:
If it makes $450 million less than they were expecting
quote:LINK
“Look, in the broad sense, from a long-term portfolio perspective, Warner Bros. has already won. They own this vast underexploited [intellectual property] that is DC. They’re going to make all these movies regardless. Will every DC movie be great and be successful? No. Would it be good if BvS works for them? Yes, obviously. But if any one of the movies doesn’t work, it doesn’t mean it all goes away. Green Lantern didn’t work, and Green Lantern is going to come back and work for them.’

Also, here's some more evidence that shows why I think Atlantis is where the next movie will center:
quote:LINK
“I have written Justice League Part One, but I won’t necessarily write ‘Part Two.’ This has been the most rigorous intellectual exercise I’ve had in my writing life. For Batman v Superman, I wanted to really dig into everything from ideas about American power to the structure of revenge tragedies to the huge canon of DC Comics to Amazon mythology. For Justice League, I could be reading in the same day about red- and blueshifts in physics, Diodorus of Sicily and his account of the war between Amazons and Atlanteans, or deep-sea biology and what kind of life plausibly might be in the Mariana Trench. If you told me the most rigorous dramaturgical and intellectual product of my life would be superhero movies, I would say you were crazy. But I do think fans deserve that. I felt I owed the fan base all of my body and soul for two years because anything less wouldn’t have been appreciating the opportunity I had.”9

And you really don't think the executives have this mentality? Keep telling yourself that. You act as if missing their projections by 350 million is no big deal. No, it's one hell of a big problem.
WB already greenlit films dependent on this film's success and the cash it would bring in. Now they've got get that cash they were counting on somewhere else. It also likely stopped a risky low budget film or two as well.

Um, no. Everything I said about this film for the past 3 years has turned out to be true, save for Affleck, but I changed my tune on that about a year ago. I'm going to continue to trust my instincts on the DCEU and assume mostly the worst.

quote:Hell yes it does. I hope they do this story and stay patient with Darkseid like Marvel has with Thanos. They have an opportunity here to tell a very interesting story with a very different atmosphere than anything we've seen in a comic movie.
