Trench oat batman looked cool as frick...ill give Snyder that. The production design as it relates to batman was crazy good. But that's just aesthetics
I'm going to compile every positive comment that you have about the movie into one long thumbs-up review quote.

yea, I feel the pain. I'm probably one of the few who hated watchman bc I feel like Snyder did a terrible job of understanding some of the characters motives, especially Rorschach. Then sukerpunch had the dumbest story I have ever seen/read. So, I have been turned off by his hiring from the beginning. DC has so much potential for the big screen
This. I didn't hate Watchmen but I didn't love it. It was very much like every Zack Snyder film. It had no soul or magic. And he messed up the most important line at the end. I know it's just one small dialogue exchange between Ozymandia and Manhattan, but it was extremely crucial to the point of the story. To me, that's a great example of how Zack Snyder just doesn't fully understand the stories he's trying to put on screen.
There's not a single film of his that has received generally favorable reviews from critics (going by metacritic score). His highest rated film is Dawn of the Dead which has a 58. I just don't understand why WB thought "Yahp, Dats the guy we want making four of our biggest movies." They put their faith in the wrong person.
And I hate it because I want DC to have a really expansive movie universe like Marvel. The MCU got me more interested in the comics, and characters than I had ever been in the past. That's what I want DC to do for me as well. But I'm not going to care about it if these movies suck.

lol...yeah I forgot about him.
There was so much going on at the same time he got lost in the shuffle. My first thought he was WAY too young to be Alfred.

When Batman finally started breaking femurs I had an epiphany. Personally I thought I had died for 2 straight hours and then I thought to myself "Holy shite! I'm still alive! I have not been damned to a hell of boredom and nonsense. Finally something I like in a movie is here. It's a movie! Holy frick it's a movie!" And I and the rest of the theater began crying on each other's shoulders.
3 people booed when it ended. This movie was worse than I could have possibly imagined.

Fanboys on imdb seem to be loving it. They seem to believe there's some conspiracy among the critics to hate Snyder/WB/DC. They keep bringing up the critics having a bias towards Marvel and comic book films that aren't dark and gritty.
1) Critics had nothing but praise for Chris Nolan's Batman films, and even Singer's Superman Returns.
2) When a critic says there's no humor in a Zack Snyder film, they aren't saying that they want the film to be full of jokes like Marvel films. They are saying that the film lacks any sort of levity. Even Nolan's dark and gritty batman films had humor in it. For Christ's sake speaking of the holocaust, Schindler's list even had humor in it.

Crowd in our theater clapped loudly at the end for what that's worth

When I saw Superman in the theater in '78, the crowd applauded at the end. Then one guy shouted, "THAT SUCKED!"

Just noticed something for the first time on Man of Steel (which I've been watching on FX in preparation for the train wreck). I thought it was totally ridiculous for Doug Stamper to ask Lois to a basketball game a few weeks tops after half of Metropolis is destroyed, largely due to the fact I don't think the average person in Metropolis will have gotten over about 5 dozen of their friends and family being killed.
Those characters were so pointless in the movie that I didn't give a crap about their storyline. When the building was about to kill them all I thought was "who are these people, and who gives a crap what happens to them?"

You are seriously telling me the final scene where batman shows up in jail to scare Lex for no real fricking reason was "perfection?" Lex yelling DING DING DING to end the film and acting like a bafoon is what you wanted?
Cmon. You are better than this.

As Samwise Gamgee said, "Well, I'm back." And like Samwise, I feel like I've been to Mordor as well. As I was watching the film, this scene came to my mind repeatably: LINK. I didn't care, nor did Snyder. I was bored out of my mind feeling like I was there for a job I despised. Then I actually got one good scene with Batman, and once that ended, I realized what I'd been missing out on. After that, the film turned into brutal torture.
Let me start it out on a positive note:
The Good: Casting Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne.
Now for the Bad: Literally everything else. Henry Cavill isn't good. Amy Adams I now realize is a worse miscast than Kate Bosworth was. Jesse Eisenberg is a fricking clown, I have no idea what he was trying to accomplish during the film, and is the worst casting and idea in comic movie history. Gal Gadot is alright, but I think saying she's a standout is an direct insult to the rest of the film. Doomsday sucks as usual.
The plot is a total mess. Nothing makes sense. The narrative is sloppy as frick. We are literally told everything and shown nothing, aside from the end when people are socking each other in the face. Batman kills 20+ people. They mention like 8 times that for whatever reason the area they're dueling in and destroying doesn't have a single person in it, which makes no sense. The fights (save when Batman goes in and fricks up the criminals) are boring as frick.
But the biggest crime of this movie is that it is utterly joyless. Hey remember back in the old days of February when Deadpool came out, or maybe back in the archeological days of 2014 when Guardians of the Galaxy came out on how much fun and full of joy those movies were? In this movie there nothing save for a single scene to be excited about. Requiem for a Dream quite literally has more emotional highs than this movie. Yes, Batman and Robin is a superior film to this as well. Say what you will about it, but they put their all into it and they want you to be entertained. Go watch Arnold as Mr. Freeze and tell me you aren't entertained by it. There's nothing entertaining about this movie, only infuriating moments.
I was expecting Last Airbender or 10,000 BC bad from this, but there was nothing to target. It was just plain old shite. Those had at least some highly misguided passion to it, but this save for Affleck's performance had none. Snyder cashed it in, didn't give a single frick, and should be cast out of the industry for this abortion. This is the worst movie I've seen in 5 years. Keep Affleck and Irons, but fire everyone else.

Hah! I actually said this today when discussing the movie. At least that movie had a story and a narrative. This one just made no sense on so many levels. One of my favorites has to be the senate wheel chair bombing. The news says it's the wheel chair guy. Then randomly it's now Supermans involvement. And Batman just totally falls for it too based on...?
Also those checks and letters with the writing were hilarious. How much could they throw at the wall hoping something stuck

Here's my initial reaction/review:
If you are a fan of Superman or Batman or Lex Luther or Lois Lane or Doomsday or cogent and coherent storytelling, then you'll hate this movie.
If you are a fan of drinking copious amounts of alcohol and subjecting yourself to spliced bits of information being shoved into you eyeballs like dull ice picks in the hands of Kathy Bates while enjoying mindless action set to no context then you'll love this movie.
I agree with this review.

I don't care about his little onomatopoeia. It was the substance of what he was saying and that we are going to get Darkseid. By the end of the movie I was finished with rolling my eyes at Lex. At a certain point you just accept the character for what he is so you can enjoy the rest of the movie.

I'm just pissed Snyder completely ruined and butchered the doomsday plotline. He completely raped one of the biggest cannons in Superman mythology ever.
And by the way, what a fantastic idea to start the DC Universe off with the Dark Knight Returns and the Death of Superman. I just have to wonder how fricking stupid are these people? They're not established yet, which is very much required for those comics to work. I had no idea why they were mourning Superman or why Batman was fighting Superman aside from being pissed that he destroyed his building.

If there is a god and someone at Warner Bros cares about making good movies that isn't just mindless action and disaster porn, they will give Snyder the option to hang around as a consultant and work on visuals and stuff like that for a new director and maybe wait for a new gig open up, or he can take the outright harsh and brutal firing and be done with it.
No, fire him. What he just did was inexcusable. I don't care how good at shooting a single shot he is. He needs to be fired for this.

Yeah, its very easily worse than the Star Wars prequels. Very, very easily worse. Lucas has some passion and it was misguided. But it was clear he love doing the movie and making money and creative character designs from it. Snyder I only got distain from. He hates these characters and doesn't understand them. Hiring Zack Snyder to do the DC Universe is the single worst decision by a studio in the past 10 years. It was utterly retarded, and anyone who voted for him should be fired as well.
