It could have been written dozens of ways where Vader is soundly defeated but Obi-wan is unable to kill him, like Vader had support, Obi-Wan had to choose between saving someone or killing vader, some geographic feature separates them, some creature attacks, and on and on. Obi-wan just walking away from what he set out to do knowing that Vader survived their previous encounter when death seemed certain is silly.
Agreed. Almost anything would’ve been better. Even walking away and saying something like: “you’re wrong, there is always hope” “Or it’s never too late Anakin” …. Something truly leaving Vader with the smallest amount of “light” in him, but actually that would play into the original trilogy and Disney can’t do that

Hell, I’ve seen people critical of the show but be so completely enamored by the last two episodes that they forgive every thing else.
Forcing her to live and make a 6 episode arc in a show where no one wanted her story at all is annoying. Maybe in a 10 episode season..or on a different program all together.
Vader refuses to go back to Tatooine as he doesn't want to tempt re-awakening Anakin. There are plenty of dangers there that Obiwan could have protected luke from. He didnt need to go off-planet, too much time on the princess.
After giving his blessing to Owen, THEN he could have went and fricked around out there.

Vader said to Obi-Wan just before they started fighting, “then you will die.”
He would later say this to Ahsoka when they fought. Obi-Wan and Ahsoka also both cut Vader’s mask open.
I thought that was a nice touch.

Ewan is just so money in that role

Seemed like Ewan struggled to keep a straight face with “Hello there”
Also, Anakin and Vader’s voice switching was amazing. Caught me so off guard.
I heard rumors of there being a 2nd season with more Qui-Gon. Have no clue how they’d have enough content though.

1) pursue a broken down cargo ship with a star destroyer, but only shoot at it with small arms. No tractor beam, no tie fighters, no destruction
2) then, decide to turn the whole fricking ship around to chase one guy in an escape pod. THEN, when it heads for a planet, decide it’s time to “ready my ship”. Dude, you could have readied your ship as soon as you saw the pod, AND left the star destroyer to DESTROY the cargo ship.
thus frick is this writing?
was this scripted by chimpanzees?

You’re thinking. That’s highly discouraged because Disney smashed their Kenobi & Vader dolls together and that means this was a great show.

'm not sure how Leia wouldn't remember Kenobi when making the message in a New Hope

Kenobi kicked the shite out of Vader. How exactly did he look like a stupid pussy?
He let Vader live again knowing that means Vader and the Empire will still rule the galaxy and oppress/kill. Kenobi should've been forced to escape by stormtroopers/Inquisitors/etc....
The last 2 episodes were a lot better but still had problems and the season was a huge letdown to what it should and could have been.

This is an absolute chore to slog through. Is Reeeeva having a stroke or something when she asks Owen where Luke is? What a god awful actress

I’m still really surprised they had Obi Wan ragdoll Vader at the end. That’s not a diss to Obi Wan. He was def a top 5 Jedi during the Clone Wars, really only surpassed by Yoda, Windu and Anakin
I’m not convinced that he was surpassed by Anakin/Vader. Even in Episode IV, an old Obi Wan didn’t really lose to Vader, he lowered his light saber allowing Vader to kill him, buying time for the others to get away.

It's like an F-22 not being able to shoot down a Cessna

quote:I enjoyed the episode, but in my opinion they missed a HUGE chance on something that would have fit Star Wars canon completely;
He let Vader live again knowing that means Vader and the Empire will still rule the galaxy and oppress/kill. Kenobi should've been forced to escape by stormtroopers/Inquisitors/etc....
Kenobi standing over Vader/Anakin, preparing to execute him. They have the same conversation, but before Obi Wan strikes, he says something like how much he misses the man he knew. But Vader says something, along the lines of "you didn't fail me. From the moment I lost Padme, the moment I lost my family, I stopped being Anakin forever".
Spend a LOT of time and effort getting those words JUST RIGHT, so that Obi Wan sees the truth (the future?)- that finding Luke will restore Anakin, and only Anakin can stop Palpatine.
Have Obi Wan just say something cryptic, like "you speak of the power of the Dark Side, but one day you will see the power of the Light, Anakin", and turn and walk away.
Like I said, spend a ton of time getting the words just right, and the feel and tone of that moment; and it would have been perfect in my opinion.
It would have set up the final meeting between them, and Obi Wan's sacrifice; it would have set up the growing uncertainty within Vader as he pursues Luke; it would have fallen right in line with Yoda and Obi Wan's plan that Luke must face Vader (not to kill him, to force him into the light again).
On another note, Reva survives and meets Leia again, in the Rebellion. If for no other reason, to tell her to be cryptic in her message to Kenobi unlike what Bail did, because someone else might find that message.
Reva was either miscast, or poorly directed.

They broke canon with having jinn appear, and not just be heard.. but its forgivable.

Its like people think she said "help me Ben Kenobi"..
Which cancels out the conversation Luke had at the table with his family wondering if maybe Old Ben Kenobi may know something about it.
Not to mention this meme

I thought the series started out slow, but improved some as it went on. The gender/race war stuff honestly bores me , so I'll touch on some stuff that did interest me.
I thought Obi Wan's arc was done fairly well. Good to see him let lose in the last fight.
I thought it was a mistake bringing Vader into a story where his children played important parts. But since they did, I think they gave us some more insight into his character.
Vader here was at the height of his power, at least as he outwardly demonstrated it. But he still had more than a little Anakin in him and I think interacting with Obi Wan brings it out and keeps it alive.
By ANH, he wasn't really flashing around him powers stopping starship and stuff, but arguably he was more quietly efficient in his objectives - then he met Obi Wan again and through him Luke and he broke back.

The fact that Kenobi left Vader/Anakin to live for the 2nd time is inexcusable.

I'm pretty sure it was the rebellion he was wanting to join. One or some of his buddies did that he met up with later I think.
First guy was right. Luke mentions applying for the Academy - in this case, the Imperial Academy (because it was one of the few ways to explore the stars). His friend Biggs attends the Academy, then leaves to join the Rebellion (Luke doesn't know that until they meet up on Yavin, before the attack on the Death Star. Biggs was a much more important character initially.)
So yes, Luke was very close to joining the Empire. It was his Uncle that kept forbidding him and then guilting him into staying.

Yea the ending, if you think about it is retarded
First, according to lore, Obiwan COULDN’T beat Vader by then - Vader was way to powerful, that’s WHY Obiwan trained Luke - to kill Vader
With that said, once Obiwan defeated Vader and was convinced Anakin was dead, there was literally no reason to leave Vader alive unless Obiwan’s dream was just to groom a kid up to go do what he could have done himself…that’s sadistic…and pedoish
So the takeaway of ALL this series is - Obiwan hatched a scheme to groom two small children

Not even close.
