On Fandango, when you click in a show time, the normal x's that show a seat is sold are replaced by coffins.

cute.

I'm going to see it tonight. Some reviewers I trust say it's their least favorite film of his and others say it's his best. Guess I'll see which way I lean

Just got out but driving. Thought it was fantastic, but kinda expected a different looking Count than Jim Carrey in makeup.

Also Nicholas Hoult is the cuck of the century in this lol.

Ok, I watched its few hours ago. The plot was really good, the scenery and period correctness were on point. The only negative I have to say about it is it was slow. I think they could have done different camera work and a few other things to cut 15 minutes off the movie. Overall, worth seeing.

Question: is there a demonic overtone. My wife hates to watch movies like that.

Yeah, that seems to be a big thing with Eggers. It's weird, I've enjoyed almost all Ari Aster's slow burn movies but have had trouble connecting with Eggers'. I'll still see this though because I love the original Nosferatu.

Just saw it. It's definitely my least favorite of his films. I love the witch and the Northman. This is a masterpiece visually and technically but it drags a good bit and the subject matter is not that interesting because you already know how it ends. A lot of people were laughing at parts because they were so weird even though it's trying to be serious in those moments. This is a movie I'll see once and never again most likely.

That was the problem with the Northman. Dragged too often.

I definitely will say that it drags a bit and I was waiting for something to go down 2/3rds of the way through. Lots of build up for little pay off. There was also people kinda laughing in my theater as well, especially after the last scene, like 'that's it?"

I will say that Bill Skarsgård absolutely nailed what he was trying to do with the Count Orlok, but man... every time they showed his face all I could see was:

The movie was definitely good. I loved the cinematography/aesthetic. The acting was top notch. A lot of creepy and disturbing moments for sure.

Agree with the movie dragging. Definitely could have trimmed some more fat, but didn’t ruin the movie for me or anything.

I thought it was fine. Lots of good little elements. Doesn’t top the Werner Herzog version to me.

Biggest issue for me was a lot of the acting was weird. Johnson and Lilly Depp had very weird line delivery.

In terms of Eggers movie. Lighthouse is still at the top. I personally put The Northman at the bottom. Even though I like it and have seen it three times, there’s something off about the Northman to me. It feels very lonely to watch it. The Witch is a more traditionally good than Nosferstu but Nosferstu has so many random interesting elements it just depends on what I want in that day.

I will say the Witch doesn’t have Willem Dafoe
