I really have zero issue with them continuing to bash or make fun of Trump. I’m a Trump supporter too, and some of it is objectively funny.

My issue is they have been less creative with it this season and it’s more on the nose and crude. People are rolling their eyes because they keep coming back to it and it’s not landing the same.

I thought when Garrison was Trump it was hysterical and it sort of fit.

Ive read theory that this is specifically done to avoid lawsuits.

quote:

The "small-penis rule" is not a real legal rule but a satirical concept, possibly originating from a recent South Park episode, that suggests creators can avoid defamation claims by exaggerating a public figure's physical characteristics. This fictional rule leverages US defamation law's high bar for proving actual malice, allowing for parody of public figures while remaining legally protected by the animated and exaggerated nature of the humor.

Explaining the principle of the rule, Professor Michael Conklin wrote in the Nebraska Law Review: "The rule recommends that when an author utilises a fictional character to defame a real-life person, he should also give the character a small penis - the logic being that in order to sue, a plaintiff would have to admit that he is the fictional character, therefore admitting that he has a small penis."

I just want to see Diddy in space and Butters as an air traffic controller like they showed in the trailer.

I personally think they’re beating the dead horse on the trump is fricking satan bit for a reason. They want to see how much they can get under the skin of trump and his diehard worshipers.

idk if its working. seems like less and less people are talking about the show. I haven't even seen anything about this episode until I saw this thread.

This. Wigging out and shooting the dogs and Cartman bitching that everyone was ripping him off was funny. When he tackled Clyde and popped up with that hairdo I busted out laughing.

your whole act is pretty weak as well. You don't venture over to PT very much if you think Trump is my hero.

It's just lame, by anyone's standards At this point, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Trump jokes are actually a part of their contract.

So is the implication that if 5 eps in a row had been centered on ripping Biden/Kamala/Gavin Newsome/AOC, those complaining about 5 in a row on Trump would all be eating it up and think it was the best season ever? And are therefore a bunch of p**** hypocrites?

I’m sure SOME would think that, but for a huge majority, it would be just as disappointing that a long awaited season turned out to be nothing but evidence of the once-great creators becoming cranky grandpas who watch Fox News for 8 hours a day and have an unhealthy obsession with “owning the Libs”

Jeez, this Trump stuff is as bad as a Samantha Bee bit from her cancelled show. Just terrible. This episode didn’t need any of that at all. The butters story by itself was all that was needed.

Very disappointing to see the direction the show has taken.

Honestly - the red flag that should have telegraphed how this season was going to go was in ep 1, which most of us were open minded about, when they happened to throw in (apparently) full support for Stephen Colbert, the brave free-speech advocating truth teller that was unfairly let go by CBS and how dare they !!

Would be like a Biden-bashing Trey and Matt happening to also throw in full support for someone like Alex Jones or Candice Owens.

Yeah they found mostly shitty unfunny material and they continue to double down on it. There are entry level jokes that would be far funnier than what they have been putting out there. It doesn’t help that they had a treasure trove of material to pull from during the Biden Adminstration and did literally nothing with it. At this point they’d be better off leaving all politics alone. Their best episodes ever have frick all to do with politics anyways.

I genuinely wonder how much Trey and Matt actually contribute to the stories of each episode these days. They said they had a “writer’s room” with several other writers years back and it would explain the massive drop in quality. Let the DEIs write their nonsense, stamp Matt and Trey’s name on it and air it.
