I see only two that I agree with in that picture. Wright as Jim Gordon and Elba as Heimdall

Other than that, and I hate fricking saying this, I agree with kaiju here. The casting has had an amazing bivouac agenda and most decisions made in the name of DEI are complete shite.

Anyway. I'm excited to see this movie. It's The Odyssey and Nolan. It's going to be a good movie. I truly don't give a shite about casting. I just want to be entertained for 3 hours.

Then go watch O Brother, where art though. Closer to Homers version at least.

I wouldn't use the phrase "agree with" but I get what you're saying.

It's like salt. A dish may not need salt but you can add a bit and it's still fine. Add too much, be too blatant about it and people will start talking about the salt and not the dish, because salt is what the chef focused on.

Alright, one week to go. Right now I'd say around 90 mil OW based on presales, but the final week is when things can really pick up. We'll see if there's excitement for it this final week. I'm kind of surprised universal isn't lifting the embargo until Wednesday.

I’m going $111m.

I thought that too, but apparently they did the same schedule for Oppenheimer for the review and social media embargoes.

But Oppenheimer didn't have this much attention. If reviews are strong, it would be smart to move that date up, IMO

Former White House AI advisor and investor @sriramk shares his first reaction to THE ODYSSEY:

“I was fortunate to be at the world premier of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey a few days ago. I was asked to hold reviews until the movie releases but allowed to post reactions so will try to tread that line.

The topline: this will be the movie of the year, will leave a deep impact on any viewer and will go down as one of the great epic movies made. If Nolan doesn’t win Best Director for this, we riot.”

He also adds that Tom Holland gave his favorite performance in the film. You can read his full review here: sriramk.com/

How do you know? You haven't seen it yet.

I'm not trying to bust your balls, but I don't get the dichotomy here. It's ok to predict a movie will be good, but if you predict it'll be bad you're a troll who doesn't know what he's talking about.

Predicting a bad movie from one of the best and most consistent filmmakers of the past 25 years isn’t based on past data. It’s based on two actors that they don’t like being cast that are in the movie for like 5 minutes total.

Expecting it to be good would be a more rational position.

It’s based on two actors

Luptia Nyongo
Ellen Page
Zendaya
Matt Damon
John Leguizamo
Travis Scott

But also…

Drab scenery
Inauthentic armor & ships

And finally it draws heavily from a feminist’s (agenda driven) translation of Homer’s work.

Not one actor or actress in the movie is ethnically Greek. Why is it that the black actress is specifically triggering?

Because "ethnically Greek" and "visibly inconsistent with the character’s explicit physical description" are two entirely different arguments. But pretending not to understand that distinction is easier than actually defending the casting, right? Tell me, are you more likely to find a guy who looks like Matt Damon in ancient Greece? Or this:

And this is nothing compared to how nuclear you frick tards would melt if they put a white guy on the Wakanda tribal council.

By your logic, we could cast a dolphin as Helen since it isn't Greek either...

The Odyssey can’t have an orchestra score because orchestras didn’t exist in ancient Greece.

Didn’t Leguizamo say that an actor playing a different ethnicity is cultural appropriation? How could he do this movie? He's a bigot
