Like I said, they can whine all they like. They can call people whatever "ist" takes their fancy. The Tumblrinas can make 1000 memes a day. None of that is going to force people to spend money seeing this.

Also, this backlash is so dumb. See the movie or don't I can't imagine anyone cares. I don't see M. Night Shyamalan movies but I'm not making a big deal out of it. I honestly hope this makes a billion dollars just to watch the melt.

1) The original wasn't all that great
2) The reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles looks good
3) The original Ghostbusters was great. Just the song alone was a hugely popular part of 80s culture - TMNTs was good for selling toys but even the movie "original" was sort of a reboot since it was a cartoon first.
4) The reboot of Ghostbusters looks painful.

Yeah, some are missing the point of his video game reviews. That's a game he played growing up. The angry stuff is part of his character he plays, as it's been pointed out, that several have copied.
As for movie reviews, that's not his main thing. Sure, he'll do one here and there, but he's not out there reviewing every new release. I can guarantee he was getting a lot of messages asking what he thought about the new shitstorm calling itself "Ghostbusters" and in response, made this video.
For douches like patton oswalt to make fun of his swallowing every once in a while talking through a 5 minute video with no cuts, is ridiculous. Especially when, if you're like oswalt, you're a fat slob yourself.
As for movie reviews, that's not his main thing. Sure, he'll do one here and there, but he's not out there reviewing every new release. I can guarantee he was getting a lot of messages asking what he thought about the new shitstorm calling itself "Ghostbusters" and in response, made this video.

People keep saying this is an all female cast ghostbusters movie, but it's obvious that there is a giant black dude that's part of the cast...I just don't get it.

I get that. But it doesn't change the fact that the AVGN is the Don Corleone of internet critics. He's the one that got the ball rolling. All these critics who make a living ball busting on the internet owe AVGN for it. Really James doesn't do much anymore, but its good that James went out on a high note and let others take the road he paved for them and do something creative with it, unlike some people who are simply a watered down brand and sellouts (*cough*Nostalgia Critic*cough*)

His site is called "Cinemassacre" for a reason. He's reviewed a lot of movies, particularly horror, as well as parts of them. He has done hundreds of movie reviews on that site. Rarely is it recent, but reviewing movies is still a cornerstone of his appeal and was the first to really beat a movie to death before everyone else caught on. Seriously, see if this looks familiar: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3. That was made back in 2007, and just about every reviewer online has since used this as the template. About a year latter we got This, not to mention the Nostalgia Critic (a decent rip-off) and Irate Gamer (worst critic in Internet history).

Patton has done stuff with RLM before, and I'm curious if he'd do this same thing to them. They'll almost for sure trash it for all its worth once it comes out, but I'm curious if they refused to review it over James' completely rational reasons if Patton would do the same retort. I say he wouldn't.

I've always thought that he picked Cinemassacre because that's his production company, I guess you'd call it? He's made a ton of films and they're obviously a labor of love to him. I know he's reviewed a lot of movies. His Monster Madness is something I look forward to every year. Even still, movie reviews are not what I think of when he's mentioned. It's the AVGN stuff and even the Board James stuff that I think of over his movie reviews. Maybe it's just me.
