I'm on a kick lately, having watched the Signal, Event Horizon, Prometheus, Alien Covenant, Pandorum, Oblivion, Europa Report in the past week. What are some others you'd recommend? Never been a big sci fi person but I'm kinda getting into it.

You can skip this one IMO. Turrible.

That's a bit of a kick. You laid up or something? Hope all is well.
I'm sensing an action-horror theme going here. Is that the intent or just what was available?
There's all sorts of stuff, from *Serenity to The 5th Element, Valarian and the City of a Thousand Planets to the aforementioned Alien/Aliens (you can stop there with that franchise, btw) Pitch Black, Riddick and Chronicles of Riddick.
* Helps if you've seen the FIREFLY t.v. series first, but it's not mandatory.

Lots of good ones mentioned already, so I’ll throw out something not mentioned.
I watched Aniara about six months ago or so. It’s…..different. Definitely sci fi though. It’s kinda slow and there isn’t much action, and parts almost feel boring. But that being said, I actually enjoyed it, and the weirdness of it sort of made it work for me.
Short synopsis is a ship taking people from earth to mars has to maneuver and it gets damaged and thrown off course, and everyone deals with the ramifications of that.
If you’re looking for more thought-provoking sci-fi, it’s worth a shot.

Seeing a lot of 'futuristic' movie titles tossed in which aren't necessarily space sci-fi.
Bladerunner - speaks of events off world, but the movie takes place entirely on Earth. Same with Logan's Run. Good sci-fi, but not a 'space' movie.
Both very good watches, btw.
Definitely Galaxy Quest, especially if you're a fan of Star Trek.

Prospect (2018)
Kind of a B movie but it's getting renewed attention because Pedro Pascal is in it, and he's been blowing up lately. I love the concept of this story, a "what would you do?" dilemma.
I agree with Cocomo about Aniara. Very low-key, maybe boring, but great space sci-fi concept.
I watched the Solaris remake (it's OK), but I'm trying to psych myself up to watch the original Solaris and Stalker, but they're both really long movies.

Contact and 2001 are probably the two purest scifi movies out there.
2001 is unlike anything you'll ever watch--it doesn't work for everyone, but it's considered a cinematic masterpiece for a reason.
Contact is based on Carl Sagan's novel. Mostly Earth-based but does reach into some unexplored corners (literally and figuratively).

Use the Tubi app and start binging on the cringe 1950-60s sci fi black and whites. Special effects are laughable and just a few years later we have a man in the moon.
