In 1991 I was watching SNL and this band I had never heard of came on. It was Fishbone singing Sunless Saturday. I instantly loved it.

This performance is not on YouTube but I found it via Google.

U2’s Super Bowl performance was better than Prince’s.

The names from 9/11 scrolling up into the top of the super dome was an iconic moment and when Bono pulled his jacket back and showed the American flag lining it blew the crowd away.

The McCoys - "Come On Let's Go"

The "Sloopy" boys lip-syncing a Ritchie Valens cover on a local Detroit show -- except things don't go exactly as planned. Worth watching the whole thing, but if you can't wait, FF to 2:00

Sam Cooke lip syncing "Everybody Loves to Cha Cha Cha" during a rehearsal for a Memphis TV show when Jackie Wilson decides to horn in and... Well you have to see it to believe it. Another priceless clip of a lip sync gone wrong.

2006 Fiona Apple's vocal intepretation of Elvis Costello's "I Want You."

If Don McLean killed Lori Lieberman softly with his song…..what Fiona Apple does here is torture, murder, decapitation, and for good measure leaves you disemboweled and yet it is hauntingly beautiful.

In terms of historical significance I suppose only the Beatles on Ed Sullivan would top this:

Lynyrd Skynyrd Live in NorCal

Some sweet gals in the audience.

I just find this concert an important time capsule.

Hippie liberal SF/Oakland and they're going mad for a Southern rock band flying the Dixie flag.

And 3 months later their plane crashed.

Its the most interesting and unique and wistful live performance that foreshadows what's to come.

Great choice. The second half of that performance - Drink You Away - just might be the GOAT. I remember watching it that night and it’s just as electric every time I watch. I used to despise Justin Timberlake in his younger days, but he’s evolved into a great artist.

I can't find that Ireland concert. But that was one of the best.

I've watched this before but pretty sure wasn't broadcast live. Who showed it? MTV wasn't around and can't think of any other network or shows back then that would've showed this (Don Kushners
show was at night in studio) in real time.
Almost positive it was recorded.
