Maybe not what you are reffering to, but the end of Dumb and Dumber.. when they mess up a chance to get on the bus with the bikini models.... It was more of a "What the shite?!" facepalm moment.. but in a funny way

I love how Jim hated the final scene of the film when Harry and Lloyd actually do get on the bus and told the director and everyone involved to just go with him as he wung the scene. They completely improved that scene. Just a stroke of genius.

I remember saying wtf? when it ended without an end and thinking you're just assuming i'm going to live long enough to see the next movie.

Honestly I did not know Lord of the Rings was a trilogy before that scene. I thought they were going straight across the lake and put the Ring in Mount Doom. I was pissed by the sudden ending for like 5 seconds but then was really happy knowing there were two more films in store. I still rate that and Return of the King (dragged my dad to a midnight showing) my two favorite cinematic experiences ever.

My 3

1) Empire Strikes Back
2) The Prestige (I did figure out Hugh Jackman's side of the story, but not Christian Bale's)
3) The Sixth Sense

Although it may not count as a "holy shite" surprise ending, The Game with Michael Douglas definitely hit me with a right hook at the end.

On a side note, they were lucky as frick that he chose that specific spot on the ledge of the building.
