Platoon

6mm

Forrest Whitaker (not exactly "young")
Kevin Dillon
Depp
Sheen
Dafoe

Throw in Berenger and Keith David (though doesn't count for young or future).

Garofalo and David Hyde Pierce were their "stars". Supporting cast was:

Paul Rudd
Bradley Cooper
Elizabeth Banks
Amy Poehler
Michael Showalter
Michael Ian Black
Christopher Meloni
Molly Shannon
H Jon Benjamin (Archer)
Ken Marino (Ron Donald from Party Down)

Most all of whom hadn't done much of shite previously.

The film's financing took three years to assemble; in a June 2011 interview, Wain revealed the film's budget was $1.8 million; he noted that during the 2001 Sundance Film Festival,[6] the film had been promoted as costing $5 million, in an attempt to attract a better offer from a distributor.[1]

Because it is an awful movie with a bunch of soon to be well known actors.

young future stars

Not sure I see the difference.

ETA: and I didn't say I liked the movie, but you do have to give, whoever the casting director was back in 1983, some props.

Well the question was "How has it not been mentioned"

My answer was because it was a bad movie, Waiting, Can't Hardly Wait and American Grafitti are not.

Ok, but it's got an amazing cast when you consider the careers all of those actors had/have.

This was a teen movie hit when I graduated HS. First time I ever felt old was when someone told me he was now playing a dad in a new teen movie hit (Twilight).

According to Francis Ford Coppola's wiki page it was made for $10 million. That's what...about $30 million by today's standards?
