Just know that if there’s a side chat for really engaging in movie and not getting lost in all the politics of everything, I’d love to be with that group.
I know I’ve had opinions and bouts with people left of me but I try to be respectful and just a lover of film.
Hell I’m the leader of the framed chat.

Movies and TV used to both be better but people here were in denial that the quality was starting to get worse. Now it seems most people have accepted that the quality isn't what it used to be so the board is better in that sense.

I get that people want to just consume content and not worry about those who are making it. They want escapism without being lectured too. Which is all I have ever said. But some still want to cling to the illusion that everything is just as it always has been and there’s nothing different happening.
They want to believe that the only bad people are the crazy conservatives who are making up stuff just to hate things. Which is odd because so much of the very things we don’t like now we grew up and loved before current day.
And it’s even worse. Much of what we used to like was mocked and ridiculed. Until Hollywood decided they could make a quick buck and insert their agendas into popular franchises. Only then did it become “cool“ to those people.
And now look where we are.

I’m with you SEK, surprisingly. Our niche content has been hijacked for mass market appeal, and infused with extremist Hollywood agenda to make it palatable to the Hollywood writers, actors, directors, and executives who otherwise hate things like Star Wars, LOTR, etc
“Where’s the proof of that leaning/agenda?” - look at the SAG awards. Look at critics reviews/scores vs audience reviews/scores. You always see the difference in Hollywood vs mass market in the extremes on each side. Hollywood loves the weird little movies that are award bait. Mass market sees that they’re extreme niche garbage made to appeal to other extreme niche Hollywood elites

You're wrong. It CAN be discussed but you refuse to accept that politics does indeed play a large role in how IPs like the Companions of the Hall get portrayed in movies/tv. How something is likely to be portrayed is a foundational element of such a discussion centering about the possibility of it happening. We have to look only at Rings of Power or Wheel of Time to see that this is absolutely the case and that it makes them less than what made them popular enough to warrant attention in the first place.
Ignoring it doesn't make it go away so don't blame those who mention it exists or show how it works, blame the industry that makes it happen in the first place.
