Star Wars

The piece that plays during the Tie Fighter attack on the Falcon after they escape the Death Star.

The swell and finish when Luke is fighting Vader on the second Death Star and he finally makes the decision to really fight back.

Duel of the Fates from Ep 1 and the fight between Maul and Qui Gon/Obi Wan

The final fight between Anakin and Obi Wan

John Williams is a treasure. While we’re at it…

Superman- scene where Lois is in the chopper and Clark walks out of the planet and sees it hanging off the building. You can hear the start in your mind right now.

The "James Bond Theme" is the main signature theme music of the James Bond films and has featured in every Bond film since Dr. No in 1962.

Gladiator theme was amazing. Especially the part right after Maxium showed himself.

One of the best surround sound parts ever

The Good the Bad the Ugly theme by Ennio Morricone. Performed by Danish National Symphony

Can jump into this at any random spot and it is instantly recognizable.

Last of the Mohicans GOAT

I agree that last scene is badass, however in hindsight there was some poor decision making. If Jr had waited and went after Mogwai with dad and Hawkeye they probably would’ve had a happier ending.

That scene was filmed at Chimney Rock in NC. You can walk that trail up to the falls…but it’s a bitch of a climb.

The Ecstasy of Gold is the GOAT - and the only movie theme you'll hear in beer commercials 58 years after the film premiered.

The Wizard of Oz is going to be up there in just about any movie category if we’re talking fame or impact on the film industry.

The Main Theme, Over the Rainbow, We’re Off to See the Wizard, Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead.

3/4 are actual songs and may not fit what you’re asking, but those songs are extremely famous. You had a rough childhood if can’t recognize music from The Wizard of Oz.

As far as purely instrumental music, it has to be the score and/or main theme of Jaws or Star Wars. Greatest? Maybe or maybe not. Most famous? I think it’s tough to argue for anything else.
