I am in favor of making Whacking Day a national holiday. We need to make it happen.

My cousin works for FWC. He's the Alligator Management Program Coordinator now, but he was previously over invasive species and exotics in Florida. Some of the stories he's told me would blow your mind. These dudes are absolutely batshit. He's had to deal with the dudes in this doc actually.

It's absolutely insane to me that owning exotics in Florida is legal. Or anywhere in the U.S. for that matter.

I get where you're coming from, so I'll be as fair as possible.

The vast majority of these exotic species have no business being in North America, for a whole host of reasons. They're impossible to keep out of the ecosystem, and they have no known predators (aside from people, and people cannot kill them fast enough). What benefit is there to keeping exotic reptiles as a pet, knowing how fast they breed, the relative impossibility of keeping them sterilized, and the inherent risks once they escape captivity?

People were smuggling these things into the country. It's irresponsible past the first generation, at the very least. How does something like this keep from being sensationalized?

Even the producer or camera man was worried. You hear him say something like "Ok that's enough" or "You don't have to do that". He was clearly thinking I do not want to see this dude die right now.
