I always watch The Office in syndication, and it is one of my favorite shows of all time. I recently started a legit rewatch with the gf because she's never seen it (outside of here and there or reruns with me). She loves it, but I forgot just how over the top bad/offensive Michael was in S1. She mentioned at one point that he'd surely have been fired by now with acts like that, and I just told her that the character really calms down in S2 and beyond. I knew S1 was a little different in feel, but forgot JUST how abrasive and inappropriate he was. S1 definitely has an uncomfortableness to it that is rartely matched throughout the show (although maybe Scott's Tots comes close ).

I always have episodes on my DVR to watch now, but it's cool to be doing a legit rewatch with someone who has never seen the show. I'm pumped.

"Was your dad a GI" has to be one of the best lines of the entire show. So subdued, yet so great.

this is funny because it's a stupid joke that we would make back in the 3rd grade.

"I am glad that today spurred social change. That's part of my job as regional manager. But you know what? Even if it didn't, at least we put this matter to bed.

That's what she said.

... or he said."

Its not unintentional racism, but The Dinner Party ep was on the other night, and that is just about the peak of this show in uncomfortablness. So great.

Everything from the Michael's TV to Jan's candles and Michaels vasectomy line are fricking gold.

"Snip snap! Snip snap! Snip snap! You have any idea the physical toll three vasectomy's have on one person?!?"

Jim: [to babysitter] So... how do you guys know each other?
Woman: I was his babysitter.
Pam: And now you guys are dating?
Dwight: Purely carnal and that's all you need to know.
Jim: Would you write down your e-mail because I have just so many questions...
Woman: E-mail?
Jim: Nevermind.

The Surplus episode was on today. When he found out that he could take the cash as a bonus instead of buying office chairs.

“People in Africa don’t use chairs. They just sit around in piles of garbage all day”

Michael: Meredith, I would like you to pretend that you are from Abu Dhabi.
Meredith: Hello.
Michael: I am ashamed at your naked face. I must cover it with my jacket. You are now sexy in your culture.

I just finished a Christmas episode where Michael refers to every employee as a member of his family, but refers to Stanley as the mailman.

I just watched the one where Michael makes his own Dunder Mifflin commercial.

Stanley is the prisoner in an orange jump suit on the side of the road picking up trash. hahahah

That one is good. Everything is a stereotype with Michael. I think that's why I love the show so much. Racial and stereotypical comedy is my favorite.

When he asks Oscar about the colonoscopy gets me into tears every time I see it.

The watermelon drop scene was utterly hilarious. LINK

quote:

Michael Scott: [regarding watermelon hitting car] Deactivate the car alarm, clean up the mess, find out whose car that is. If its Stanley's, call the offices of James P. L. Beeny. See if he handles hate crimes.

ETA: The fact that the car is a Chrysler 300 is icing on the cake.

I've said here before, but Dinner Party was my introduction to the series. I had heard good things, but never watched it, and decided to give it a shot one night. And I immediately fell in love and went to Best Buy the next day and bought S1-S3 on DVD and watched them all that weekend.

Also, I am reading this "article" online about little hidden details in the show, and this one is great:

quote:

3. In the Season Seven episode "The Ultimatum," Dunder Mifflin puts together a board of their resolutions. There are some funny ones in there -- Kelly's is "Get more attention by any means necessary"

By far the best one is Stanley's, which reads "Be a better husband and boyfriend"

Pics in the link (they won't load here).
