How so?
fitting in 4 females into the roles is tough plus the whole reasoning behind making it "all female"
the "all female" case was a desired point, which means that point (and not the story) was the focus

It is stunning to me that McCarthy can't understand why people hate the "girl power" casting given that they made a big damn deal about the fact they were casting the movie with all women for GIRL POWER!
People that that was stupid then and the trailers certainly point to a shitty movie with a shitty cast.
I hate remakes by in large, but a good remake is more then worth my time. But one that comes with an overbearing social justice warrior message from the git go.
Pass.

I think the original movies are overrated.
Ghostbusters 2 may be overrated because of the love of the original cast but Ghostbusters is by no means overrated.

are not laugh out loud funny
That's because they weren't straight-up comedies. They were dark comedies and were never meant to be laugh out loud hilarious from start to finish. And the first Ghostbusters film had a lot more horror elements then the second one did.

your shtick for this movie on this board is old

Yeah, Jones is the deal breaker. Wiig and McKinnon are the clear two go-tos when you want a female Ghostbusters team, and I can accept McCarthy being the fat friend. But I'm fricking out when they announced Jones. You can't try to out "Melissa McCarthy" Melissa McCarthy in a movie that contains Melissa McCarthy.
Plus the woman is ancient by Hollywood standards. If she was actually funny, she would have had some success in the industry at least 15 years ago, not when she's nearly 50. Seriously, she's exactly one year younger than Adam Sandler. Let that sink in.

I know women who loved the ghostbusters who thinks this movie is going to suck. All except for Kate Mckinnion look really bad in the trailer. I'm not even against the four women ghostbusters concept. I'm against what I saw in the previews.

Considering she is rumored to have gotten into it w/the studio over script problems, she probably does get why people dont want to see it but is simply following the company line that was easy to establish due to the initial "frick a 4 woman GB" attitude that absolutely did occur when the cast was announced. Was it what the majority of people thought? Probably not but it was a sizable enough portion that it was noticeable. If you want to get mad about that you should be pissed at the subset of tards that flipped their shite on places like twitter, reddit, and 4chan who shite on it hard from the moment it was announced they'd all be women. If they hadn't gone so crazy crying about SJW shite Columbia wouldn't be able to use that defense for the movie.

I'm surprised it's taken this long for a cast member to speak up.
This is their livelihood. They want people boycotting or crapping all over their movie.
I'm shocked the entire cast hasn't come out crying sexism to try and turn the tide of negativity. This movie will affect careers.

I don't remember any blowback over the fact that they had cast four women. It was WHO they cast that had most people in an uproar. When I initially saw the cast I knew the film was in trouble. It's like they are making a 90-minute-long SNL sketch. Problem is...it's been a long time since SNL has been consistently funny.

Her and Larry Wilmore should get a show deal called Lazy Predictive bullshite. They are on at 3 am on BET and neither is allowed to do anything else.

So the only movie you'd be happy with is a movie where an eggplant is turned into a sentient talking alien mooselike creature. For 3 hours it tries to pick a name but it can't decide and then it gets propelled into outer space for no reason by an accidental fart . The next 4 hours it floats through outer space trying to come to grips with the fact that it is a sentient moose creature and it won't ever see people again.
Is that original enough for you?

Melissa McCarthy's opinion is probably in my top-25 least valued opinions. She's terrible and she just assumes people dislike her because, "Oh geeze, I'm a woman trying to break into a 'man's' genre." No, idiot, people dislike you because you are terrible. Be better at your job. People will like you. Rocket science, it is not.

to be fair, you are kinda sorta supposed to defend your movie when you are doing the promotion in the run up to the release.
Holy shite, dude.
You just reminded me of my first "Holy shite" momments growing up.
I wish I could find the clip, but Leslie Neilson was doing an interview before the release of the last "Naked Gun" sequel, and I even remember the quote:
"Word on the street is...it's the funniest one yet."
And his delivery was soooo fricking ham-handed, he didn't even need to wink indicate he was toeing the company line right there.
His comment translated clearly:
"This is a last-ditch cash-grab-fest that I was obligated to take part in. Sorry."
I can't believe the distributors let it air at all.
Praise Neilson.
But having Pudgy Mcfatburger defend this potential turd seems like a really dumb move.
It's just gonna polarize audiences further.

Should have worked on Bridesmaids 2 and not tried to resurrect this old comedy.
This movie was gonna flop. Just let it. Take your medicine. You made a stinker. Go back to the drawing board.

Let's remake Steele Magnolias with an all dude cast and see how that goes over
Posted on 5/29/16 at 4:30 pm to 10MTNTiger
That's a bold strategy Cotton, let's see how it works out for her.

This movie looks terrible from the trailer, but no one has seen it, so who knows.
However, people replying to this thread screaming about how McCarthy is fat and should therefore shut up are not exactly making the case that MRA rage is not clouding the reception of this movie.

I hate that she's trying to turn any valid criticism of this movie into a "well you hate women if you hate this".
I also didn't like the idea from the moment it was announced because I'm sick of all the cash grab remakes. Then, when they announced the cast and were already preparing their "you're sexist if you don't like it" defense, I knew it was going to suck. After all, why would they even need to have a rebuttal strategy if the material was good?
This leftist SJW social tyranny bullshite might work on college campuses with kids who don't want to flunk out or get in trouble, as well as complicit, SJW administrations - but it will never succeed in forcing people to shell out their money in movie theaters or anywhere else.
Deal with it, fatty.
