As far as viewers it's the #1 show on Disney+ and it is also the third highest rated Star Wars property ever with a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. The animation is being universally praised with some great fight scenes.

Episodes 5 and 6 just released and the finale comes out May 4th.

I've been watching it.

Couple things worth mentioning... Disney (Lucasfilm) is getting close to being able to create "live action" films that are, in reality, completely animated. The "sets" and "backgrounds" are incredibly realistic-looking, as it the lighting. And then, the characters, if they happen to not have hair (ie a droid or wearing a helmet), are getting close to photorealistic too. They still go with the intentionally animated-looking humans, but a lot of the aliens are becoming more photoreal, too.

This stuff is low-key incredible

How is it for a 6.5 year old boy who loves Star Wars shite? Too intense or not too bad?

I’ve been watching and loving it. Maul is such a good character, so much depth they’ve established with him since he first appeared. Latest episode was a banger.

Filoni definitely seems to have nailed the animated Star Wars Universe
remains to be seen whether he can rescue the real one

fingers crossed, but he has a mountain to climb

Shouldn’t be an issue. I don’t think he would grasp what’s really going on but I think there’s enough cool stuff that would keep him occupied

Top 3 dumbest things SW has ever done was "kill off" Maul in Ep1. He would've made Ep2 watchable.

Should at least watch the Maul episodes

Nightsisters Arc: Season 3, Episodes 12–14.
Brothers & Revenge: Season 4, Episodes 21–22.
Shadow Collective: Season 5, Episodes 1, 14–16.
The Siege of Mandalore: Season 7, Episodes 7-12.

It's the same style and maturity as the later clone wars seasons. So if he has watched/ enjoyed those then you'll be good.

Miniatures and camera tricks are still more realistic looking than this.

For now...

Lots of the OT had painted backgrounds. The Death Star interior, Bespin, etc. The backgrounds are definitely bordering on realistic. We've seen what they can do to an extent with Leia and Tarkin in Rogue One, and Luke in Mando and other shows. And that tech is probably a lot better today than a couple years ago.

I think we're within a decade of getting a "live action" animated film. Like I said, you can make troopers, droids, Vader (!), Mandalorians etc to where you can't really tell at this point. And Devon is pushing the bubble some for realistic aliens. It's the humans that are the giveaway, and they CAN do them with enough time and effort.

Simply saying, this is a different level of quality than what things used to be. If you told me this was 2 actors in makeup and prosthetics, with ILM producing it, I wouldn't have challenged you on it. They look proportionally correct, and Maul looks like Ray Parks.

Do adults watch these cartoons or is it for kids?

I love Star Wars and have watched all the live action shows, but never any of the animated shows.

If I were to start them, what’s the order?

If you want to watch in chronological order:

Tales of the Jedi
The Clone Wars
Tales of the Empire
The Bad Batch
Tales of the Underworld
Maul: Shadow Lord
Rebels

The Tales are anthology episodes and jump around the timeline.

Nobody watches Resistance

Thanks! Hearing so much about this new show makes me want to start them all. I also loved the Jedi video games which touched on some of the same storylines (Dathomir, nightsisters).
