I don't give af about guns, but Kraven the Hunter's sole motivation to kill spider-man is due to the fact that he is a big game hunter who has run out of challenging animals to hunt. He does respect the animal and refuses to use any weapons outside of his bare hands, but he's a sadistic villain who only cares about killing stuff.
It's like calling a character Dr. Octopus but he isn't a doctor and only utilizes four limbs

An apex predator is necessary to maintain balance and the natural order of things. If Kraven sees himself as the apex predator, then the rest fall under his domain and it's his responsibility to maintain that balance.
Take The Lion King, the rest of the animals all salute Simba. And yet, everything we know about lions are: they hunt, kill and eat something. Daily. Felines need meat in their diet, if you made one a vegan you would kill it (look it up on google if you don't believe that).
Most hunters are very involved in protecting nature, so this could be very solid.
