Variety reports its down to Rudd or JGL

quote:

According to Variety, the two front-runners in the studio’s mind, and presumably that of director Edgar Wright as well, are Paul Rudd and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

quote:

Sources tell Variety the two actors who have emerged as front-runners to land the title role in the superhero feature are Joseph Gordon Levitt and Paul Rudd. Insiders warn there’s still a remote possibility another actor could emerge but as of now, Gordon-Levitt and Rudd are the main contenders for the film.

I'm pro-Rudd here big time. I know Hank Pym wasn't exactly a comedian but I don't care. The comic's have shown how fun the character can be during the Eric O-Grady era and I'd like to see some of that.

Those are both terrible choices.

If we're going interesting choice: Joel McHale

Pegg should be in the discussion.

Joel would be better than both Rudd and Pegg. I'm just saying, if those are the final 2, then please be Rudd.

Oh I know it Brosef. If I would've put JGL in thread title, we'd be on page 3 already. Instead I chose the Rudd reference.

Yeah, considering his and Pegg's relationship, I'm shocked Pegg hasn't been cast in the role yet.

But Joel McHale would be great as well.

I like JGL, but he's wrong for the part.

Whatever happened to Aaron Eckhart? Might be a little old now but thought he would make a good Hank Pym.

You won't really hear from people who like the casting. It'll be 90% of the board making JGL jokes. It's y'all who keep the Gordon-Levitt traffic flowing, not the "JGL fanboys."

As I've said before, Greg Kinnear is Hank Pym if you're going older and I like
Bob Benson from Mad Men.

McHale is a interesting choice, as I am a big fan of his.

Of the two mentioned, I'm not sure I like either one as Ant Man if it's indeed Hank Pym they are casting. I'd guess I'd lean to Rudd, because I see JGL as several characters other than Pym. Among them-Doc Strange, Moon Knight or even a recast Scott Summers (although might be a little short for the role). Could also be a good Matt Murdock/Daredevil-but shouldn't that role go to Damian Lewis?

I don't know. Hank Pym is pretty screwed up in the head a lot of the time.

I'm more interested in who plays the battered woman.

I didn't think the McHale thing would catch on, but after last season's Community, I just think he could pull something like that off. (Could have been StarLord, but Pratt is a good choice).

He should go somewhere in the comic book discussion, he's got the right kind of attitude for it.

I like the idea of casting Paul Rudd as Ant-Man. If I were JGL,I would hold out for something more high profile, like Batman.

I know absolutely zero about this Ant-Man (FWIW I think the superhero/comic genre is overdone to death), but if he's supposed to be 'serious' like a Batman, no way I could picture Paul Rudd in a role that's not a comedy. No hate, but PR is best in comedies. I don't think I've ever seen him in anything else. Now if Ant-Man isn't supposed to be brooding and serious, I guess he'd fit the part?? Someone give me Cliffs Notes on Ant-Man so I can make a decision .

Edgar wright is directing it. What about that would make you think it will be serious?

So will Captain America: The Winter Soldier be a comedy too since the directors cut their teeth writing for Community and all?

I don't like either; both are overexposed.
