Marriage Story (Adam Driver, Scarlett Johansson) premiered on Netflix today

About a couple with a young child going through a divorce. Also has Laura Dern, Alan Alda, and Ray Liotta.
First, Netflix has really upped their game on these original movies. The quality has gotten much better.
Second, this movie is really good and really depressing. I wouldn't be shocked if Adam Driver wins the Oscar.

I’m sure it may be a good movie. I just don’t care for the people or the subject matter.
I watched Stepmom and hated it, thought it was awful, contrived, miserable.
I watched Kramer v Kramer, thought it was good, touching, draining.
This just sounds miserable with people I find unappealing but to each his own.

Great movie. Adam Driver was fantastic, as always. Definitely a bummer if you're going through it, though.

Watched it. It was good, not great. There were some good moments from Driver. I thought Johansson was a liability. As far as Oscar buzz, I don’t see this getting much. Driver is the best shot but he doesn’t have a prayer of winning in that role with the competition he will be facing. He will win one eventually, he’s an excellent actor, just not for this. Overall, I would recommend seeing this film but know you are going to be deep in some depressing waters with not much hopefulness throughout.
Oh, and I thought Laura Dern was good in this. I don’t really understand the comment about her being a bad actress. That seems absurd to me.

I thought this movie was great. Driver gave a great performance. Probably the best Netflix movie I’ve seen and it’s probably not that close
