Just finished it. Solid flick, but like a previous poster said, probably won’t watch it again.

Solid movie. I didn’t find it as depressing as some people have, more of just a harsh reality that’s becoming more and more common. Acting was great and the movie seemed to be a very accurate portrayal of divorce (never been in that situation). Glad I watched and Netflix is definitely upping their game, but it’s not a movie I’m gonna go around telling people they gotta see. 7.5/10

Easily top 3 of the year once upon a time and parasite fighting for top 2 but this is a strong 3 . Such a strong year for the film industry

Did anyone else find the scene where Adam Driver just gets up and randomly sings at the bar kind of bizarre and out of place? And a tad pretentious? Idk just seemed odd. Solid movie overall though

The whole movie was pretentious and tone deaf

I thought Johansson was a liability.
I think she is "good" but not "great" in her roles. I see her career fading away in the not too distant future.
I randomly watched a movie from 1995 called Just Cause recently. It stars a 65 year old Sean Connery and Johansson plays Connery's ~10 year old daughter in it.

I kept wondering why the score sounded like toy story then I saw the music was done by randy Newman in the credits

Howard Stern would disagree.

It was flat. I like old Baumbach (Kicking and Screaming, Mr. Jealousy) - Squid and the Whale was pretty good but not Greenburg or Frances Ha.
Scarlett looks rough. Guess she's crossed the Rubicon with age.
Nice cameos by Airplane chick and Vizzini.
But frankly the movie is boring. The story has been told a million times but not in such a boring manner.
Baumbach's good movies the dialogue is unique. This movie the dialogue is ordinary.

Tone deaf in what sense? And what was it pretending to be?

I thought the dialogue here was much closer to some form of "realistic" than the very heightened (and great) dialogue in many of his previous movies. I don't think this was his best movie, but I found it much more emotionally raw and affecting than many previous ones.

I was shocked at how incredibly unattractive she is in this. She’s looked gorgeous in so many roles. But if I saw her walking down the street with the same appearance as she has in this, I wouldn’t even look twice

Driver was the best part of the movie far and away. Any young men who watch it will see what is really a public service announcement on the divorce system in this country.
And not only was ScarJo worse as far as acting goes, her character was a fricking bitch.

Had no idea how short she was, the scene after her first test shoot walking with the producers she looked like an elf.
