I get that he's not the greatest actor in the world, but why didn't he land more roles after the trilogy?

I know he's found moderate success in other areas of life, but I didn't think his acting was atrocious in Star Wars.

was he too pigeonholed as Luke?

He made bank doing voice acting. I'm sure he cashed in on that and made more than he would have doing b movies and being type casted

Yep, the role consumed him, as well as Carrie Fischer. Mark actually did recover in voice acting though, and is in the debate for greatest living voice actor. He's in my and many other Batman nerds' minds as the definitive portrayal of thenJoker.

His best role was the voice of the Joker. Also his role in Wing Commander.

yes

and if you've ever been pigeonholed, you know how painful that can be

Didn't Carrie Fischer write a bunch of novels in the 80s? I think she pretty much dropped out of Hollywood. Postcards from the Edge was about her or based on one of her books or something like that.

He said he'd come out of retirement to do "The Killing Joke".

Honestly, that's one of the best voice performances I've ever heard. He was incredible in that game.

He did a lot of B movies like this one, that never went anywhere. Luke Skywalker was such an iconic role in film history, that he will forever be Luke.

He is my favorite Joker though.

Came here to post this. fricking thing looked like a rolling pimp suit.

I think having his looks damaged by the car accident might have played a part as well, but as Harrison Ford is the only person to have a good career afterwards, I agree that the film stigmatized the actors. Who knows where Ford would be if it wasn't for the Raiders franchise.

Big time. With such iconic films, it's not surprising.

Carrie Fisher did some limited, decent stuff later but it seems only Harrison Ford could credibly be seen as someone other than his Star Wars' character.

I've read a good bit where the accident had a big part.
