It was a good show. The second season was a little all over the place, but I will miss. Hands down the best looking women too.

Would have been nice if they at least made an hour and a half movie wrapping up the Christian army fella that they introduced late. It wasn't the best show in the world, but I'm pretty selective about what shows I spend my time on and it was definitely good enough to continue watching.

I was worried about this happening with Netflix. Too many irons in too many fires, and canceling good shows to pump out more original content, even if it's mediocre.
They should have dropped a couple of the garbage arse comedy specials to save Marco Polo.

I'm guessing more people watch those garbage arse comedy specials. NetFlix claims to be very data driven, it's not NetFlix's fault people would rather watch Adam Sandler go on vacation.

Hell im not even talking about that garbage, I meant like the random comics I've never heard of who get full length specials on Netflix.

Those probably don't cost that much

1st season was very good, the 2nd season was bad to fair at best.

Just finished watching this show - binged it over the past few days. Hadn't really given it a look before, but I just wrapped up The Last Kingdom and was in the mood for another "historical" type show. The production value was phenomenal. The scenery, sets, cinematography, fight choreography, and several acting performances were as good as anything I've seen on cable shows. Benedict Wong was incredible as Kublai Khan, and Tom Wu's Hundred Eyes is one of my favorite characters of all time - right up there with Richard Harrow in Boardwalk Empire. The martial arts scenes were as good as any ever put to film, and they kept it from going too over the top (i.e., no Crouching Tiger flying). The "dance" between Hundred Eyes and Michelle Yeow's character when she first finds him in his new temple is a thing of beauty.
I liked that it wasn't really about Marco Polo - while he certainly has his storylines, he's more like a fly on the wall for the real story about Kublai Khan and the Mongols. I don't think it would have attracted as many viewers if it had simply been called "Kublai Khan".
I really loved the first season. Though still having it's drama, it had a bit more of a historical feel to it. I enjoyed the second season, but it jumped the shark just a tad with all the contrived soap opera-like treachery. It would have been a much better season if they had just stuck to a straight up challenge of Kublai by Kaidu. It didn't need the entire Ahmad angle.
I would have loved another season following through with the whole crusade storyline. I'd love an entire series based on Genghis as well. Any epic historical dramas with this high of production value would be at the top of my list for viewing.
I hope everyone watched the short "Hundred Eyes" side episode too. And don't get me started on the glorious naked Asian chicks in this show - especially Mei Lin's naked fight scene in season 1.

I'd watch more Kublai Khan, maybe even a spinoff prequel about Genghis Khan, but Marco Polo himself was kind of meh.

Understatement.

if The Crown gets a 2nd season, which I think it will, I assume that is a massive budget as well
I doubt it cost as much as Macro Polo. Those older period pieces like Rome, Deadwood, etc. have HUGE budgets. It's easier to dress people and create sets of semi-modern time periods.

Yep, saw a lot less nudity.

Those specials don't cost hardly anything to make.
Marco Polo was not getting viewers needed to justify it's high cost. Period.

Or it was but not enough of a profit to continue as they thought season 3 would decline...
I would love a 2 hour movie to wrap it up or something. Maybe a mini-series 2-3 two hour episodes.
