If anything, the most difficult thing about casting Wonder Woman is that you have to find a muscular, toned actress, in her 20's-30's that has fairly large breasts, a fairly large arse, and is 6'1 or taller
This. One of the reasons I think she works. I will say, her acting is the only issue, but I think it could play into the character well.

i guess in the end you cannot make a straight comic book adaptation and have it be a good film.

You keep saying this, or alluding to it, and the Avengers is a perfectly fine film.

Let's take it the other direction, is Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail a "good film?"

Or we can take this to another thread, that's a terribly broad generalization to make.

Yeah, I think comic movies can be fine. Sin City is pretty much a straight comic adaptation and I thought that was a good movie. Maybe I'm in the minority.

Sin city is very good. That's the exception. Watchmen and sin city translate fine to the big screen. Batman, superman, avengers...you cannot stubbornly stick to the source material

Tone up? Gina Carano is an ex-MMA fighter and she needs to tone up more?

I said just a smidge, jeez.

Carano definitely has the muscle and tone IMO and well, she has the arse as well. Dunno about the boobs. Cavill is 6'0 so she doesn't need to be that tall.

Carano says sooooon,

I disagree. I think Avengers is a good movie. I don't see why you couldn't with Batman and make a good movie either.

I agree.

Wonder Woman is unique character in that she's not a funny guy or cold and calculating one. She's reserved but can be very warm. Like the female equivalent of Supes.

Oh and I'm just posting this for fun.

I'm really not crazy about Wonder Woman, so doesn't matter to me who is cast as long as it's not a total train wreck.

Nolan did with it exactly what needed to be done. I think literal adaptations of the comics should be left to animation and video games (could you imagine arkham as a motion picture, yikes)

The only thing about WW that might need to be redone for the big screen (and ill probably catch flack for this) is her suit.

As much as I like it, I just don't think it translates to the big screen well.

I think Batman, like you said Sin City and Watchmen are, is an exception. If you translated it straight from the source material, it could be good. It's not going to be gritty or hyper realistic, but I don't think it has to be. There are plenty of good sci-fi or fantasy movies.

Well, much like Batman prior to Tim Burton in '89 is that the last time much of the public has seen WW is when Linda Carter was rocking this little number in the late 70's.

What little back-story I know of her is based on the Justice League animated show which was actually great...and it could be a solid back-story for her. But it would be a hard sell job to get people to not think Linda Carter when thinking Wonder Woman.

I remember seeing this floating around which could update it a bit...a shite ton better than the new TV show version.

Nolan's films were great for what they were, but not every comic will be served well by hyper-realistic crime dramas.

No, just no.

Arkham is the quintessential, "game as a playable movie," example in modern times. I don't think there's a more cinematic game out there (maybe Uncharted), honestly. It would translate almost perfectly to film. Story for story. Frame for Frame.

Just put on some pants on her uniform and call it a day.

Really?

If that's the case, there's no way Bale could play Batman in the new film universe.

In the comics:

Superman is 6'4/6'5
Batman is 6'2
Wonder Woman is 6'0/6'1

Why yes it is.

Here's another one of her looking a little bruised and bloodied.

what marvel did was shovel out shite movies like captain america, thor and iron man 2 to set up the super lame epic avengers where they fight the same guy from thor.

i really liked iron man. I liked the incredible hulk, but then they recast him when the whole point of these fricking movies was to set up the avengers

BTW making a movie to set up a movie is perhaps the worst reason to make a movie, and they did it like 5 times. Then when i finally get to watch the avengers it's fricking stupid. It doesn't make sense (the entire 2nd act), it's boring, and it looks cartoony

agree to disagree.

makin movies to set up more movies is marketing genius, I wish I'd thought of it 1st.
