re: Man of Steel rumored to drop hints about a shared universe

The Avengers was more about getting them to work together as a team rather than the actual threat of Loki himself. The next Avengers will be more action and a stronger, more believable threat to the team and Earth.

But remember, they have to make this movie reach a wide audience as well. Everyone that doesn't really know comics has LL as Superman's girl. It's been pretty consistent over the years.
This is a valid point.
They have 60+ years of history together whether it be as a couple or just friends.

Hell, people freaked out when Peter Parker was dating Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man instead of MJ.
How is it now? I can't remember if that's still freaking out some people.
I still think that Supes and LL are just platonic friends in MoS. And Supes and Wonder Woman hook up at some point in future movies.

The question is will Supes and LL be love interests? I would say no because it would be confusing to have Supes with one woman in the comics and with a different one in the movies
Sentrius, did you see the reveal on who New 52 Superboy's "parents" are?
Oh and I see Foxy is doin some work in here.
I don't think DC needs to copy Marvel's process so closely. We don't need an indiv WW movie but I'd love to see a Flash one.

what marvel did was shovel out shite movies like captain america, thor and iron man 2 to set up the super lame epic avengers where they fight the same guy from thor.
i really liked iron man. I liked the incredible hulk, but then they recast him when the whole point of these fricking movies was to set up the avengers
BTW making a movie to set up a movie is perhaps the worst reason to make a movie, and they did it like 5 times. Then when i finally get to watch the avengers it's fricking stupid. It doesn't make sense (the entire 2nd act), it's boring, and it looks cartoony.

i guess in the end you cannot make a straight comic book adaptation and have it be a good film. I loved what nolan did, and i think i'm going to love what snyder has done
Look, I won't be a Godfather buffoon and say your opinion holds no merit anymore, that's insane, but...
And let me analyze this briefly. Between this and JC, and Prometheus...and the focus on Nolan, you seem to have taken on the kind of gritty-reality, completely grounded and totally jaded, themes of current film that focus on the negative aspects of the battle of good and evil, heroes, etc.
None of these films are anywhere near as bad quality wise as you make them out to be. That's just plain not true. Personally though, they just might insult you with their inherent self-actualization and cheesiness. That's part of the charm for a lot of people. The unabashed "Aw shucks, it's Hero Time," attitude of most of those characters.
The Avengers' foray into realism was effective (Tony's daddy issues, Caps burden of savior, Thor's grapple with his immaturity) but brief, those films don't want to bathe the viewer in negative ideals. Those are merely connections that put the hero on the heroic path.

You keep saying this, or alluding to it, and the Avengers is a perfectly fine film.
Let's take it the other direction, is Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail a "good film?"
Or we can take this to another thread, that's a terribly broad generalization to make.

I will shoot the first person that says Meagan Fox.

The issue is that people who don't know the stories tend to base the info off of past movies.
The Spider-Man trilogy had MJ (terrible portrayal of the true story though) and that is what people expected out of TAS, even though Gwen Stacy was his girlfriend first.
People just like feeling secure when they watch movies. That is one of the reasons why Hollywood repeats stuff so often. Throwing unknowns out there is risky.

No, I missed this.
Post what you're talking about. I don't care about spoilers.

Spoiler alert for the few that may care.
Superman and Lois
I haven't read the issue so I don't know how the reveal happened or if the parties involved are aware but I liked the twist.

She is also dating Cavill, so there is that.

Wow, that's pretty interesting and surprising.
I need to catch up on the New 52 sometime soon.

I've only read the Justice League New 52 so far. Y'all recommend any of the other ones?

Warner Bros is gonna try and force this shared universe instead of letting it unfold like Marvel did.
Even Superman Returns had a Gotham City reference and that hardly got a rise of out of people.

They do look the part. She would need tone up just a smidge first though.

When Clark is walking around the office with the TVs displaying news reports (after Luthor steals the kryptonite) the news reports can be heard mentioning the city of Gotham, home of the Batman.
This is shortly after Clark saves the falling plane.

Throwing out small comments about other cities such as Gotham, or including characters such as Capt. Ferris, helps to draw connections with other heroes without dragging them too much into the story.
The DC universe is a lot harder to do group projects on, IMO. The characters are so damn powerful.

I'm really liking Detective Comics and Justice League Dark right now. I have been following Justice League and although the art has been good the writing has not made me overly excited-but I hope for that to change with the oncoming Trinity War. The biggest surprises for me have been Aquaman and Wonder Woman being so good, but that's just me.

I'm with Big Apple on JL. It has gotten better but didn't start out as solid as I thought it would. The Shazam backup has been great though. Justice League of America is looking to be very solid two issues in.
Earth 2 is my out and out favorite right now. Aquaman, Flash and WW are all good as well.

Tone up? Gina Carano is an ex-MMA fighter and she needs to tone up more?
If anything, the most difficult thing about casting Wonder Woman is that you have to find a muscular, toned actress, in her 20's-30's that has fairly large breasts, a fairly large arse, and is 6'1 or taller

That bitch. If she gets cast I'm sending back my Wonder Woman chucks.

Thanks. I'm intrigued to see where this whole Pandora story ends up. The mysterious characters like that always interest me.
