I think Peggy's happy ending was that she finally might have found a happy balance between work and a personal life.

Which i thought was bullshite and bad writing. I can believe that Stan was in love with Peggy, but i watched Peggy sit there and convince herself to be in love with someone. It was painful.

Stan is perfect for Peggy though. They used to stay on speaker phone all day when they worked at seperate firms.

Yeah, they've been hinting at getting together for YEARS.

Yep. Her story is in every way the contrast to Joan's, always has been.

McCann isn't handing the Coca Cola account to someone as junior as Peggy Olson.

She's very talented, but they're just not.

Hell, she had to flex her muscle just to keep Chevalier earlier in the episode.

Plus I like him, he's a dependable, loyal and likeable guy. I think he's actually perfect for her and they'll probably enjoy life together.

I have to admit, I was kind of expecting Pete's plane to crash with his family.

I'll never trust Duck. But it seems like Pete actually landed in a good situation.

I never got the vibe that Duck was trying to scam Pete. I think he legitimately was desperate for cash, and Pete was the best opportunity. A lot of viewers have forgotten, but Duck was a MAJOR character in the early years of the show. I think tying him into the Pete story was a lot about wrapping up Duck as well and showing that he's a miserable drunk and always will be.

That would have been horrible.

Speaking of Stan, I loved watching back to his scenes where he totally breaks Lou's balls all the time.

Can't decide who I hated worse, him or Harry Crane.

It's not so much the vibe. It's the fact that drunk Duck is a difficult person to read. I just dont have too much faith in him.

Pete's parents both died in transit (plane and ship). Not the smartest move to go to work for an airline.

That goes back to my observation earlier. Pete accepted who he was - a family man. Being his father was his greatest fear. He faced that symbolically be taking a job where he constantly flies in planes, the very way his father died.

Betty had the same conclusion but sadder. She essentially accepted becoming her mother and even dying like her. But, in some ways, she was better than her mother. Stronger.

And for Roger to throw Meredith out the window so she can become cat-woman.

That's always been Peggy though. Over analyzing things while being absolutely oblivious to what's right in front of her in her love life. This is a woman who got dumped over the phone in the episode The Suitcase because she ditched a nice dinner with her boyfriend Mark for work and then proceeded to rationalize it with "He invited my Mom to a dinner we were supposed to have together over candlelight, he doesn't know me".

Her reaction was absolutely what I thought it would be.

Again, the one character I really feel sorry for is Sally Draper.

Not me. She's the most functional person on the show with a great head on her shoulders. She'll do her part with the boys and go on to do great things.

I agree, I said it earlier I really don't think she winds up being the next Betty at all.

There was that great scene with her and Glen (die!) in the museum where he talks about telling his friends that they "did it"

She says "tell them what you want, but I don't think I like you like that".

Any chance there is a sequel starring Sally Draper?

need to go back and watch that part again. As I watched it last night, I didn't give it the proper attention because I was too busy yelling "We've got 5 minutes of Mad Men left and we're wasting it on this Leonard guy!!!" I wanted to see Don's character get some closure and the clock was ticking. Goes to show you that even a big Mad Men fan, like myself, needs to remember how brilliant it is.

The more and more I think about the ending, the more and more I love it. Just a perfect & clever way to give closure while also leaving some room for imagination from the viewers. No doubt that as we continue to digest the last few minutes and last few shows, we'll see more connections and the layers that were developed. Right now, its just easy to say "Don Draper found peace and from that moment, he returned to NYC where he created one of the best ads of all time."

I completely agree. I was freaking out the last five minutes and honestly barely heard a word of the Leonard speech the first time around.

Meredith handled that situation like a boss.

I know. I was basically saying to myself "Leonard needs to shut up because we've got less than five minutes for Don to get it together, fly back to NYC, see his kids, return to McCann like a Boss, and give us one last legendary pitch while drinking an Old Fashion."

I've seen some criticism that their whole story was cheesy and rom-commy. It absolutely was cheesy. But that was intentional. The writers on this show know exactly what they are doing. There's probably never been a show so carefully crafted than Mad Men. Was there any other way for Peggy to finally realize that she was in love with Stan than exactly how it happened? It was classic Peggy. Literally over-analyzing herself into the correct feelings. I thought that scene was perfect. I don't know how some thought this came out of nowhere. This has been building up since Season 4.

If I do want to nitpick the finale, I think I would say the biggest weakness was with Joan. I felt like her production company was a tad forced to give her a powerful ending. I actually thought it was much more authentic to her character the way she went out in blazes at McCann.

Richard turned out to be a total dick though.
