Which i thought was bullshite and bad writing. I can believe that Stan was in love with Peggy, but i watched Peggy sit there and convince herself to be in love with someone. It was painful.
It felt rushed to me.

I have to admit, I was kind of expecting Pete's plane to crash with his family.
That would have been a rip-off of Col. Blake's exit on M.A.S.H. . . . no way they would stoop that low to copy such an iconic moment in TV history.

Much like people hoping that the D.B. Cooper theory would play out for Don. It would have been very cheesy and not something Weiner would pull.
I'm thinking about watching the finale again this evening. For some reason this moment is stuck in my head and it makes me

Its also worth a note that in that scene of Don standing on the cliff, overlooking the ocean at sunset, the light makes him into a silhouette....just like in the opening credits.

I thought Don was going to run and fall over that cliff

It's so sad. It sounded so much like a suicide call. I was screaming at the TV for Peggy to go save him, but that would have been a terrible way to go story-wise.

Refresh my memory: Peggy never told Pete about their son did she. I'm thinking she did not and that Don is the only one who knows she had a baby. But did HE know it was Pete's. I didn't get to watch the marathon.

She told him.
They were having a drink in his office at the old Sterling Cooper. She said "I could've had you in my life forever."

Yeah she told him in the Season 2 finale.
ETA: But no, Don does not know that it's Pete's kid.

I'm definitely watching it again. I watched it this morning and it took me a while to digest it.
There were people on the radio ripping it for the 3 minute speech by the stranger at the hippie retreat, but he was basically speaking for Don - summing up his life and how little his family valued him.
And upon further reflection, the final scene was genius.
The grin reveals that not only does Don return to McCann to make the Coke ad, he returns to his family to try to be the father to his kids that, up til now, he's never been.
Great stuff.

Which is kind of refreshing.

Speaking of Stan, I loved watching back to his scenes where he totally breaks Lou's balls all the time.
Can't decide who I hated worse, him or Harry Crane
Pete Campbell was the most loathsome - an entitled, silver spooned, blackmailing piece of shite.

Pete's speech to Trudy begging her to take him back in the penultimate episode was as fine of a pitch as anything Draper ever made to a client. In that moment, Pete Campbell was finally a man.

Then he became someone that we all rooted for. That's tremendous writing.

Nah.
He was extremely loyal to the good guys and also got redemption with Peggy.
Pete was awesome.
Harry Crane fricking sucked. I wanted to punch him every appearance. That Megan scene was brutal, wish she would have bitch slapped him.

So thoughts now?
This IS the greatest drama ever. Right? It is/was a night time drama or soap. Dallas in the "who shot JR" days was bigger, but certainly not better.
Sopranos and Breaking Bad are in there but they are more mob-style?
And now that it ended so DAMNED well? I will admit I am a total Mad Men homer. I am certainly willing to listen though? MASH was TV greatness and head and shoulders better than any other sit coms of its time, but it was a sit com.

It is probably my all time favorite pure drama, and I don't care about anyone else's opinion, so there's that

Me too. All other opinions can suck it.
I'm willing to listen.

She told Pete.
Go back and watch "The Suitcase". Don asks her if she knows who got her pregnant and she says "of course". Than she says that her mother thinks that Don got her pregnant and hates him.
