Of course he did the commercial. You think the suits in NYC at McCann came up with that?
Totally set that one up with the ending...

So Don learns that he was never loved and that's why he never recognized love in his life. He spent his whole life trying to get everyone to love him (and his products) but he really was THE con man "with poor instincts" and ended up throwing everything away.
When he loses everything...that's when he truly finds himself, understands love, and creates the greatest ad ever made.
The end.

Anyone who thinks Don really became a hippie is fricking retarded. He always bounces back.

Rough ending their for Sally. Hard to see her getting thrown into that.
I liked the ending, good knowing Don went back to being Don and is finally happy with that. I think the only disappointment is that we have been taking about who was going to die in the end for so long, that not seeing it is kind of a let down.

Pete got on a Learjet in the 70s. I think he may be dead.

I think that implies that Don came up with jingle because of what he's experiencing at the yoga commune (or whatever you want to. all it)

I take back my statement of it being shitty, IF we get confirmation that Don did the coke ad

Wiener closed the loop on all the primary characters and Don writes the best Ad ever. Very Nice.

Yea, I'm still not convinced Pete didn't die there

I think that is the way to take it.

If you're waiting on a confirmation from Weiner, you'll probably be waiting awhile.
Did any of you folks wanting to "see" everything watch The Sopranos?

And for those that wanted Don to return to being a bad arse then that was pretty much him being it.
Ask anyone who was alive in the 70's what commercial they remember and that has to be near or at the top.
That commercial was on the air long after 1971.

I'm just glad all the fricking know it alls weren't right when they said he would jump out of a window or he was that guy who hijacked the plane. Dumbasses
Absolutely agreed. No don out the window... No pete out the window... Just don smashing it where he does best. Not a "shocking" ending... But an appropriate one.

Why are audiences so obsessed with someone having to die in the finale? This show was never about that. Plus Betty practically died anyway.
Posted on 5/17/15 at 10:28 pm to Alley
So you had to be alive then to appreciate the ending? That's not a good ending.
Posted on 5/17/15 at 10:28 pm to DallasTiger11
Terrible ending. Don't know what else I expected after how disconnected this entire half season felt. Sucks that such a tightly wound show ended as a disjointed whimper.
Posted on 5/17/15 at 10:29 pm to DallasTiger11
Well, people were convinced that the intro was alluding to such. Watching it, you can understand why.

I'm 45 years old and loved that song/commercial which means it ran for years for me to have any recollection of it. This is exactly what I thought Don would do when they assigned him coke. He probably did the mean joe green ads as well.

Bitching is one thing...to end this amazing series with a character we've never met named Leonard crying at a therapy camp in California is a fricking joke.
But that's not where it ended, of course.
That's where your brain turned off, but that's not where it ended.
