...at the end of the day, he was more interested in a quick frick in an alleyway than pursuing whatever perceived emotional connection he thought he had with this woman. He hasn't changed in that regard at all...that was the point, to me anyway.

There was also the soldier at that party, when Don realizes he has the soldier's lighter. Season 5 I think. Don saw that soldier twice and the second time the soldier was missing an arm and Don said something and the soldier said "Death doesn't make you whole. You should see what you look like."
Also Don saw Megan at the same party and she was apparently a ghost as well.

Yep.
Career woman nowadays is run-of-the-mill. Entering the 1970s as a female that not only was a big timer at a top advertising firm in New York City but had been for half of the 60s? I'm sure there were plenty of good looking, successful guys that were intrigued by that idea.
And she's not absolutely hideous.

Not only is that shitty writing (in the context of a long TV series), it would kill blu-ray sales. Why would anyone want to watch the series again knowing it's all fake?
