A part of me hates the fact that we have some many sequels on the field of 64. I almost which we had to choose between 1 indy, 1 john wick, 1 terminator, etc... but damn that becomes hard to do.

But some of those are because you don't think they should qualify right? Like it would have been best to exclude westerns or you don't think Seven Samurai was an action flick. If that's the case, ok. But I'm not going to say someone is retarded to vote for The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly or Seven Samurai when it's within the rules to do so. They are two of the best movies overall on there. Best action flicks? I don't know, but they are certainly good enough to be in the top 64.

The "lines" between Action or Horror or SciFi or Thriller tend to blur at the edges. People should just settle down and accept that fact.
Of the 64, there are probably ten or so that I personally do not see as being "Action" films, but I am not going to waste your time bitching about their inclusion.

If more people would have got behind this, I would have been ok with it. I didn't see John Wick 2 and 3, Die Hard 3, and The Raid 2 coming though. I was somehow oblivious to how popular the John Wick movies are.

Iwy and I go way back.
And he's the only person that's run more tournaments here than me. So he knows I know the pain.
We're all critics around here, but I do see a problem if Seven Samurai,one of my absolute favorite movies mind you, goes up against something like Commando.
Like there's clearly a better movie of the two, and there's clearly a better "action movie" of the two. It would just be weird for either movie to be in that position.

I, for one, appreciate the hard work you do for these tournaments. They aren't perfect, but nothing ever will be. I try to use my voting to weed out some of the sequels. It might not be the best solution, but all my votes rarely win any ways. I chose Minority Report over Terminator. I think it's under appreciated as a movie. I think terminator is the better action movie though I still voted against it. I did so knowing T2 was superior in my book and won't lose easily. Same as last crusade. Amazing movie, but Pirates, to me, was just too good to lose in the first road to a movie that it's counterpart will win easily.
I would say we could do a sci Fi movie tournament to put your minority report, dune, 5th element, etc.. but the board would fight over what classifies as science fiction.

There's nothing wrong with the nominees.
But as I commented in the nomination round this is an impossible tournament because action can be an Octopus to so many people with its tentacles in so many movies. As a genre its nebulous.

I think a sci-fi and western combo could be an interesting one. 32 from each genre and have every first round matchup be a western vs a sci-fi. Although there are probably a lot more popular sci-fi movies than there are westerns. Might not be evenly balanced.
