Just heard it on the radio.

"Now I'm washin' lettuce. Next I'll be onto fries. A couple of years, and I'll make manager - and that's when the big bucks start rolling in."

I figured he didn't have long when they reported he had cancer and was admitted to the hospital.

He was one of those comedians I never really got into, but hell, he was a year younger than me and I'm not ready to go yet------and as far as I know, nothing of note really wrong with me.

RIP Louie

Always seemed the picture of health too.

Sad news, no joke. Guy had talent but also some serious issues.

Be at peace.

It wasn't until I watched the Movies That Made Us: Coming To America episode that I realized he was still alive.

I wanna say I also read a statement from him when Norm McDonald died. Dude made it to 68 and even outlived Norm. Not bad.

His training the guys at McDowell's was awesome. "I'm washing lettuce. Soon I'll be on fries. In a few years, I'll make assistant manager, and that's when the big bucks start rolling in."

Very cool story on how he got the role in Coming to America:

quote:

In the late ’80s, Anderson — a Saint Paul, Minnesota, native — was at the swanky Beverly Hills celeb-magnet restaurant the Ivy, where Eddie Murphy and his entourage happened to be dining. Anderson footed the entire bill for Murphy and his group, with explicit instructions not to tell the waiter it was him until Anderson left: “Don’t tell him ‘til after I leave. I’m not doing it to be a big shot. I’m doing it because I’m from the Midwest and that’s how we would do [it],” Anderson recounted to the “Sway in the Morning” satellite radio crew in 2017.

The next morning, Anderson received a call from Murphy. He not only offered thanks for the gesture — “Nobody ever bought me anything,” Murphy told Anderson — but also said he wanted to cast Anderson in “a little movie called ‘Coming to America.’”

Marveling at comedic karma, Anderson said, “That’s life, isn’t it? It was the best $660 I ever spent.”

I believe Louie was also the only white actor with a speaking role in Coming to America.

The legend goes that Eddie wanted to make the entire cast black, but the studio said 'you gotta have at least one white actor on screen' and Eddie was like, 'Hey, everybody likes Louie. We'll put him in it.' And the rest is history.

Who are the two assholes that downvoted this? It was a hilarious scene.
