S2 wasn't completely irrelevant. Hurley found love because of it. Michael committed his unforgivable acts on characters from the tail. Those were both very important throughout the series. Hurley and Libby ended up playing an important part in the sideways.

Well, we also got the first hint that Smokie could take the form of other people and was possibly "the devil."
We also learn about Desmond.
We also learn that Desmond caused the plane to crash.
We also learn that Claire is Jack's sister.
We meet Ben for the first time.
We learn a lot about the others.
We learn what Dharma Initiative was and why is was important.

DVR'd the finale to watch tonight. Not sure I'll be able to catch up on the 1900+ posts in this thread.

I bet the wreckage scene won't even be on the DVD.

But shouldn't you continue drinking for the 24 finale tonight?

You clearly didn't, but of course you didn't watch much more than that so it's a pretty convienient thing for you to say.

Not sure if Doc's commentary has been discussed on here yet. But here's a link...Part 2 is supposed to be released tomorrow.
Below is a quote from Doc jensen that should hit home for most of you on here based on the previous posts:

quote:.... Doc Jensen Summary
I think fans and haters — and fans and fans-until-last-night — will be debating this for a while. NEWSFLASH! The argument will never be settled. I expect in the days to come, as I find myself in conversations with people who were disappointed, I will be asked to mount a defense of the series. I will be put on the spot to show them why it all ''made sense,'' and failing that, prove them that the show really did have a ''Greater Point To It All.'' But what is certain is that I will convince them of nothing. I also think it would be wrong and even disrespectful of me to try. Your experience of Lost is your experience of Lost, and it is valid. I presume you are intelligent people who are not blinded by personal bias. I am sorry you feel let down. But I do not share your perspective. Does that mean we can't ride the same church bus to heaven together? I hope not.

I can only imagine trying to watch the finale after only seeing seasons 1 n 2 lol

yeah only 2+ more seasons
i watched over 2/3 of the show, brotha
nothing really happened in seasons 3-6 really
a lot of filler and bullshite ruses to keep people turning in that didn't really amount to much

when you look at the ending, there really wasn't much that you missed between the 2 points
just ben
the others, jacob-mib, the flash forwards...all meaningless

I knew it was more than 2 seasons but also knew you hadn't watched them all, which is why I put the qualifier in my statement. You're still making arguments that seasons which you didn't watch were worthless to the overall show. I'd like to see you in court tell a judge that some piece of evidence is not important to the case because you didn't feel the need to review it.

Not to mention what the world was thinking after the Aljira flight vanished and the passenger log would have shown that the famous Oceanic 6 were on that flight as well. Then that plane reappears carrying one member of the 6 (Kate), a man who will have no identity to the outside world (Richard), and 2 other survivors from the original crash who were presumed to be dead (Sawyer and Claire).
Not to mention Miles. I could see the others going on to have a semi-normal life, and Lapidus can play stupid since no one knows he left with the Oceanic 6, but Kate is screwed. In the very least she's going to be arrested for violating her parole, and thats the least of her problems. All of Ajira flight 316 is missing but Lapidus, to where mass murder may come in, as well as kidnapping Aaron and lying before a grand court on what really happened. Plus Hurley buying all those tickets proved that they knew something was up.
Yep, the best years of their lives were on the island together.
I struggled a bit with Kate and Sawyer leaving the island knowing that they did not have much to look forward to. Then again they both were better people as a result of their experience on the island. Also they thought the island was being destroyed so I guess survival instincts, which a very strong in Kate and Sawyer, kicked in at that point.
I think I would have preferred more faith in Jack to stop the destruction of the island. It probably would have made more sense for Lapidus to fly Miles, Richard and Desmond off the island but the writers may have felt it would have reduced the impact of the ending. Kate and Sawyer staying together on the island would have definitely strained the credibility of the couples at the end in flash sideways. Really, I think it was well thought out and I loved it. That scene with Vincent lying next to Jack as he was dying was just perfect.

+1. People trying to draw more out of it are just reaching. Just because what you think won't be proven wrong, doesn't make it intelligent or right.
They said on the show that they were alive on the island, they showed the purgatory from everyone's perspective, it even showed the flashes they were seeing in their heads when remembering things, but people wanna over complicate it saying that was just how jack remembered everyone from the island

what is hilarious to me is the resolution (purgatory){ was denied over and over again by the creators, and due to the fans figuring this out, they changed the show not once, but twice (fricking up the narrative). yet how does it end? purgatory
the island being purgatory wouldn't have been as good as the island being real and then them going to purgatory afterwards. would have been pretty dumb if they had all died in the crash and been in purgatory with people they had never met while they were alive

i'd like to see you defend lost in court when they left so many holes in the story
the recap and a 5-10 minute conversation with a friend about jacob-MIB caught me up to the important parts
