Couple of things:

Jack told hurley he was already dead before he went down in the hole.

I think they all died when Juliette set the bomb off

I interpreted that no one survived the crash, but Ben, Juliet, Dez, etc were not on the plane. So I just don't know.

Stab wound, which was what did kill him.

I am sure it's been asked, but uh, Richard, Lapidus, Miles?

They're probably at the concert after party with Daniel and Charlotte wondering where everyone went.

Good cAll where is mr ecko? He had everything figured out long before the others.... Perhaps he moved on long before since he didn't have as deep a connection with te others?

Remember hurley said Ana Lucia wasn't ready.

To the person asking about how Bernard and his woman died in real life, there's no telling....... I'd wager they died on the island of old age.

with magical abilities which held this group (well, some of it) of people for a time before they died, so they could go to purgatory...yet ben and hurley end up protecting it...and then just say "frick it" one day and leave, so they can go to a purgatory they don't realize exists?

I think he was referring to the stab wound in his side that he knew he wouldn't survive.

well there were others that killed a lot of people...ie sayid but he was moving on

or Ben just wasn't ready to move on yet, he perhaps still beat himself up over it.

Now that it's sunk in for a few minutes I honestly couldn't have been more happy with the ending. I'm going to rewatch season 6 in a few weeks to see if they were leading up to it more clearly.

Hurley told Ben he was a good number 2 and then Ben told Hurley he was a good number 1.

They weren't dead.

I completely understand where they were going and what they were trying to do, but I don't think I really liked it that much. Felt too Sixth Sense-ish with the whole they can't "go" because they don't realize they're dead.
