SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS!
Well things are going to start winding down. I mean we have a few episodes left this season and then next season is it.
From an article I read about shows killing off characters, I think 2 main characters are supposed to die by the end of the season.

Kate ultimately saved Ben to keep her promise of finding Claire.
Everything had to stay the same.
I'm pretty sure that was implied but not explicit enough for my taste.

Haha, well that's pretty ambiguous in the context of LOST. Between flashbacks and time travel it's hard to say exactly who has been "killed off" and who hasn't :) But I assume it means the character will no longer appear regularly in episodes. We also must define "main characters." I would confine those in no particular order to: Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Ben, Locke, Hurley, Sun, Jen and Juliet. Refining it further, I would say that in the current context Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Ben and Locke are core characters meaning that are essential for the overall theme to work but then again that might also include others like Richard Alpert... wheeee
Then there are important supporting characters like Desmond, Richard Alpert, Penny, Christian, Daniel Faraday and his mother, Ms Hawkings and Charles Widmore. Anyway, without doing any research, purely from a "who can die without detracting from the theme perspective", I would say it will be confirmed that Ben murdered Penny and Desmond and Daniel will die because he lost his constant who was Desmond.

quite possible. if so, i think it was implicit for a reason. they are trying to throw us off.
my favorite part of the episode was the conversation that the writers had with the audience through Hurley and Miles.

Agreed, until the writers answer Hurley's final question with a "we can solve this real quick" by having Richard say he won't remember any thing if he helps him.

Who cares? They explained why Ben didn't recognize Sayid in the future.

They may have or Richard was over-stating the memory loss. I for one, get the feeling that Ben remembers alot more than we think (or is at least told Sayid shoots him later). This would explain why Ben was always trying to reinforce Sayid's killing nature.

Yeah, that and the conversation between Miles and Hurley was maybe the weakest writing on the show imho. Fanboys will say it was a clever "nod" to the fans and what they're talking about on message boards. That's what the writers want us to think. The fact is they were stuck and didn't know wtf to do to get out of the corner they'd written themselves into . Though, it's a testament to their forethought that this hasn't happened a million times before.

I liked that they at least came up with an idea for his memory loss. Most shows would have just moved on with no explanation.
And I really disagree with you on the time travel talk. That was funny.
You people need to chill out some. It's not as if they sat down when the show started and they wrote 5 years of shows. They at best had an outline of how they wanted it to end but I doubt even that. what most people forget is the heads of ABC hated this show and almost didn't even air it. I am sure all the writers figured this might be a 1 season and done job.
Heck they make mistakes. They have different writers and those people don't obsess over every single leaf on the island like some fan wanks.
They just admitted a mistake on the age of Charlotte. The evidently blamed the actress and she got really pissed and the producers admitted they made the mistake.

I agree. Though, it was clearly a response to what's being discussed on this here interweb. And that's not necessarily a bad thing. I think it's cool they pay attention.

I completely agree with this. I'm sure they had an outline, but there's no way they had ever single detail planned out like the alter-worshippers who keep proclaiming "there's something in the pilot that will let us know they had everything planned all along" keep shouting from their knees(which they're on not just to worship, but to perform felatio). They are figuring a lot of this stuff out as they go along, which, to me, is even more impressive.

1974 Faraday sees a 3-4 year old Charlotte, meaning born in 70-71

does she look 8 years older than she is? But whatever, I really couldn't care less....as long as she stays dead, it's fine by me.

Well they claimed initially that she lied about her age, but later apologized when they found out that the character was initially supposed to be born in 79.

Yeah that's nitpicking IMO.
