IMHO people misuse the term MVP
Rodgers is clearly having the best year of any player -- but is he really the most valuable? More valuable to his team than Brees? Eli? Or yes, even Tebow?
most valuable player award should obviously go to peyton manning
I think the main reason Pacquiao is fighting Marquez for a 3rd time is because Arum wants to Pacquiao to beat Mayweather in public opinion (since he can't get Mayweather in the ring).
If Pacquiao knocks out Marquez, then Manny will have defeated every opponent that they have both faced better than Mayweather .

I'd be thrilled if they ever just had one fight together
1. Floyd won't fight manny without the blood tests
2. Manny won't do the blood tests
3. Bob Arum hates Floyd
4. All are rich, and don't need the money
not looking good....

ok... He went from super featherweight 130lbs to junior middleweight 150 in a little over 2 years.. Very progressive
It's not that hard to believe. In fact, it's pretty easy.
manny really hasn't gained much size. he was just able to make low weights during training.
in 2004 for jmm he weighed in at 125. in the ring the next day he weighed 137 after hydration. For the rematch he weighed in at 129, and the next day he weighed 145.
When he fought DLH he weighed in 12/08 at 142, and the next day he weighed 148. 138 and then 148 for the Hatton fight.
so...really not that much difference in size; he's just not killing himself to make low weights anymore

I also think him coming in at 164 was a serious disadvantage
quote:
what would the blood loss right before the fight do to their bodies, conditioning, etc.?
nothing; the amount for a blood draw is insignificant
quote:
Your argument is to keep sayin that he'll take it immediatley after the fight. If can do that then he should have no problem taking it before the fight. So what's the excuse now?
He's superstitious and thinks blood draws weaken him, and that's why he lost to Erik Morales.
I used to work with a Phillipino; he said superstitions are serious business in the phillipino culture
that's the reasoning anyway...you can decide if it's bogus or not
quote:
I for one think it's odd that he can jump around weight classes like he does.
His "unofficial weight" on the day of the fight, after he's hydrated, really hasn't changed much.

I think Manny would be willing to though (I was pissed to find out he is fighting mosley next because it's pretty much a lose-lose situation for manny and boxing).
they're scheduled to fight on may 7th.

i thought the ending was terrible, and that the sideflash universe was completely pointless.

you're like the little troll who jumps on the pile of a fight just to say you're tough. I didn't say anything for a reason. Maybe you should do the same rather than open your mouth and remove all doubt.

pwned.

So the Daily News reporter must hate Manny too i guess.
The whole world is against Manny. Its all a conspiracy
i don't know what you're talking about. manny's size is appropriate. he's passed every drug test in the past. why would you assume he uses PEDs just because roger mayweather said he does?
quote:
LINK
c'mon man. what "source" (if there was one) would see an email sent to the mayweather camp? hmmm... probably someone from the mayweather camp...who would not ever, ever leak false information or make false statements to damage manny's reputation
c'mon...
quote:
But why then was he getting knocked out at those lower weights then?
poor defense, lack of skill and experience. he wasn't always a great boxer; he just had a lot of speed and power. it wasn't until roach got a hold of him that he became a complete boxer.
he was 17 and 19 years old when he had his only 2 knockouts. it isn't like he had the mayweather family to train him from the time he was a child.
also. he started out in weight classes of 107 when he was only 16. he was fighting at 122 by age 20. so his weight and size is appropriate.
quote:
Then explain why he wanted to know the penalties for him testing positive for roids.
link?
quote:
The guy started fighting at barely over 100 lbs.
true, but manny really hasn't gained much size. he was just able to make low weights during training.

Nobody cares to watch Manny fight anyone but Floyd except for Phillipino's hoping to catch a glimpse of their future president and biggest pop star..
ok. who cares? as long as they're buying the ppv's manny doesn't need floyd. which was my point in the first place. you're dense.
quote:
you either love the dude or want to see him get KTFO.
exactly. and if people don't believe there's a chance he'll get beat, they won't watch.
quote:
and every fight, they build the opponent up to "the toughest fighter Floyd has ever faced"
yep. they've done good on this, esp with overrated ricky hatton. but they won't be able to after tonight...unless its manny
quote:
if Floyd fights Chad Broussard, i'm watching the fight.
if floyd fights chad broussard, it won't sell enough ppv's, which means floyd won't make much money, which means floyd won't accept the fight.
quote:
I guess we can safely assume there are 700k Phillipino households in the U.S. then. Somebody tell the census save them some time and money.
what's your point?
quote:
That fight was gay as hell from the time it was signed until the time it was finished and everyone knows it. If you wasted your money on that you are a fool.
i agree it was a boring fight, and i stick with my original statement that people will watch pacman no matter if he fights floyd or not. It's not the same the other way around.
quote:
Nobody, except Max Kellerman, give two craps about seeing Manny fight anyone but Floyd.
given the fact that manny fought joshua clottey ( who most people don't know and held no real threat to manny) and sold 700k ppv buys, you don't know what the hell you're talking about
quote:
If they both retired right now Floyd's legacy would be much stronger than Manny's and that is a fact.
sounds more like an opinion.
quote:
What did tonight prove?
that he can beat a legitimate top ranked welterweight
quote:
That Mayweather is too fast for an old arse man?
that old man is faster AND better than 95% of the top ranked welterweights.
quote:
There is no other fight for either of them.
not true. pacman sold 700K ppvs fighting joshua clottey (who most haven't heard of). he can still fight cotto, berto, mosley, amir kahn, timothy bradley, rematch with jmm, etc. and still make big money on ppv.
quote:
Manny will be remember as a great fighter but unless he fights and beats Floyd he's nothing special.
quote:
Yea, Mayweather is nothing without Pac
the question is, which other fighter besides pacman can mayweather fight and sell it as a ppv?
more options are out there for pacman.
