you were suggesting Farraday was proof that the incident caused the split. All we have is Farraday hypothesizing that it would cause a split.
I tend to think that the nuclear explosion caused the split but I wasn't sure if it's been actually explained/revealed. Maybe Faraday's explanation is the most we will get.

well shite
I fricking read this assbag theory that Jacob and MIB are the 2 personalities of one person
that boy in the jungle tonite had distinctly dark hair (I guess it could've been shadows) - they had to know how it looked on film
I sure hope that's not how this plays out

Don't worry... Faraday and Desmond are still going back in time!

The kids entire outfit looked like something Jacob would wear.....To be honest when I saw him I thought it was Jacob immediately and was confused when I came here and saw most people thinking it was MIB.

To me he looked no different than the first encounter

That better not be a spoiler!!!
I just rewatched the episode. when ben asks desmond what he's doing at the school, desmond tells ben that he's checking out the school for his son, Charlie, but Des doesn't have a son in this timeline. I really think that Des is recollecting a lot more memories of the alt timeline. Maybe because he has already experienced it in the original timeline when Faraday found him for his constant?

I hope not.
just some musings from another Lost site

Here's my question: Are the two timelines even occuring simultaneously?
I mean it's possible that Desmond in the alternate timeline could have memories of events that haven't even occurred yet to the viewers.

Well unless the Oceanic flight is occurring 3 years later in the alt timeline then it should be 2004 there and 2007-ish on the island.
I was wrong before, though. Once.

yes
but I dont think that has any relevance at all at this point. You can throw the calendar out the window
if it happens in one timeline, we are seeing a direct correlation in the other timeline in "our" time (the viewer's time)

Oh yeah there's definitely a sense of simultaneity. We can view the timelines as being relatively concurrent.
I guess what I meant is I don't think Desmond necessarily has "memories" of 2007 in the alt timeline. He could, but idk

And what's the deal with Ilana, she tells us one minute that she's been training her whole life for this and then she blows up. Think they'll tie that loose end up?
Kinda hard to do when there's no string left...
just what I was thinking.

No clue. But it usually doesn't take long.

Did anybody notice the Charlie and the chocolate factory reference in the background as credits were rolling?!

yes. It's been kinda mentioned. Not sure if there is anything important about it though. What do you make of it?

twins
It plays into the Jacob/Essau theme(again, not that they are the real Jacob and Essau, just J/E figures/symbols).
And I agree with what you and somebody else said earlier--Desmond ran over Flocke because he was pissed he pushed him down the well. Whether he thinks it's the real Locke or not doens't matter--he's pissed. And I also agree that dates don't really matter, because it's about consciousnesses jumping around. They are not constrained to having to jump exactly parallel(i.e. from 2007 to 2007).
That scene where Jack and Flocke stare at each other was intense. And I was actually more intrigued by Jack's expression, like he finally recognized who MIB was. This doesn't seem to make any sense, but my first reaction was that maybe he saw his father in him. I can't make that work logically, but there was absolutely something going on there that we don't know about yet.
And I need to watch it again, but there was some interesting dialogue that might have been foreshadowing. The one that I can remember is Richard, I think, saying "We're all dead" or something like that after Hurley blew up the Black Rock. Btw, I'm not convinced that the writers' original intent was indeed to make the island Purgatory, but when everyone guessed that so early on, they decided to veer in a different direction.

Oh yeah, I too, thought the whispers reveal was weak sauce. Though I agree with Landshark that there may not have really been a better way to explain it at this point. For me, it might have been cooler to leave that one unanswered. To still have people deciphering transcripts of them on the internet 5-10 years from now.
