Also I tend to doubt Elrond would be so casual talking to Galadriel since she was his mother in law.

Or Galadriel being that condescending to him either. Elrond had a pretty rough and violent life growing up, starting at the age of five. He was more on the front lines than she was.

Not only are we going to completely shite all over tolkien books and ruin one of your favorite authors work but we also will not allow you to talk bad about it or have any say what u think. You must sit in the corner like a good puppet and accept us taking a shite all over you.

They’re not going to ruin it. Let’s just have fun mocking it, because it’s nothing more the Woke hate is laughter and mocking at their expense.

If they ruin this show. I will try my hardest to make their entire life miserable just like they are doing to the rest of us.

But as I've said before, most people don't know this source material so they don't give two shits about it being accurate. The show is going to kill it because it's Lord of the Rings, not fail because it's Lord of the Rings. If you are just the average viewer, you are getting the LOTR fix you've been wanting for a long time, it doesn't matter if its not accurate. Hell %99 of the people watching haven't read The Silmarillion.

This is the part that makes no sense to me, because I think you're 100% right. What Amazon has done, and what so many of these studios are doing, is going out of their way to appeal to normies in the fan base while doing things which will 100% force long time fans to either revolt or hold their noses and try it. None of that should be necessary.

Normies would like it either way...with the exception of the fringe activists that are loud on Twitter. If these studios just kept to the source material they'd keep all the long time fans and nearly all of the normies that simply want more of that type of product. Other than activism, I'm really not sure why anyone would go out of their way to alienate long time fans the ways these studios have done.

Good lord what are you his little minion?

OMLandshark is a tolkien and LOTR actual fan

So am I. Much more than most. But if I stop watching the show because it sucks I'm not going to post in episode threads because I'm not a giant douche and don't mind if others want to enjoy watching the show. I can hate on the show while talking to others in person rather than trying to make every person on here miserable.

Also, I guess GOP isn't a real fan? You know the guy that has read LOTR every year for almost 30 years now? Does OM have you brainwashed in thinking that it means you're not a real fan if you watch Rings of Power? Because that's not true at all.

What OM is right about is that if you want to try and stop crap shows from being made, don't support them. What he's wrong about is that his opinion isn't the only opinion that matters for Tolkien fans.

You realize that not all the copies of the books are going to be burned once this show comes out right? It's not ruining his works at all, his literature and true story will still exist, but you're too busy trying to announce who is a true fan or not to realize that.

Edit: You edited your post because OM corrected you. Wow, you really are one of his little minions.

I didn't add that but yeah. Elrond was Gil-Galad's second in command and Gil-Galad was the High King of the Elves in Middle Earth at that time. Elrond did not have a pleasant and easy life.

Bah. You could have made Galadriel a super important and interesting character without turning her into a killing machine. Galadriel didn't need a sword to be powerful. She just was.

I love when Galadriel tells Elrond that orks mostly come out at night… mostly. My chest felt like it would burst.

I got chills down my spine when Galadriel said “It doesn’t matter who we are. What matters is our plan. Nobody cared who I was til I put on the mask”. Tolkien would be so proud!

When young Galadriel told Elrond that Morgoth is going to be running 3 Honda Civics with spoon engines. And on top of that he just came into Sauron's and he ordered 3 T66 turbos, with NOS, and a Motec system exhaust,I felt on my knees and started crying.
What a masterpiece.

The shitposting and memes… this is going to be great. The show is going to suck, but the trolling is going to be next level.

Have seen the first 2 episodes of the @primevideo's #LordOfTheRings series. Prepare to be blown away by the scale and scope of #TheRingsofPower. I don’t know how they managed to pull this off, but they made a ‘Lord of the Rings’ show that feels like ‘Lord of the Rings.’ ½

Everything about this series is incredible. From the cinematography to the costumes to the movie quality sets. And, of course, the cast. Get ready for something special. I cannot wait to see more. Starts streaming September 2nd. 2/2

I haven't really commented much on these threads because I do want to give a fair shake, but I heard a comment the other day about the time crunch and it really stuck qith me. You've got this epic piece of literature that spans thousands of years, and the show writers make a truly cowardly choice to condense the timeline. Like, part of the whole appeal is how events over thousands of years affect the entire world, and have time to stew and settle. "Your human characters would be dying off every season ". fricking good! That would be a different TV experience and you may actually be able to explore some of the themes like eternal life vs death.

Ugh

It’s a great book, but it’s not something most people would enjoy watching.

It would be more vignettes than episodes.

The woke shite is pretty out of control, but nothing is being 'ruined.' They can make shitty adaptations all they want. The original work still shines.

Don't ever let these people think they're taking anything away from you. It's how they want you to feel.

Honestly, if they changed all of the names and called it "The Evil Guy and the Elves," I'd enjoy it more. I read LotR and Silmarillion every other year, so I hate the changes they are making simply to satisfy a small, vocal, mentally insane segment of American society.

I just want someone to please explain to me how a Dwarf, who literally lives underground her entire life and whose species had done so since their creation, has excessive melanin in their skin to protect against sunlight...

I also want to know who thought Matrix-esque bad wire work was a good idea for Middle Earth.

Well that’s a blatant lie:

Anyone else remember being pumped walking into The Last Jedi and it having a 95% and then immediately seeing a Yo Momma joke knowing something was wrong and then seeing this and knowing something was terribly wrong?

Me: Attended midnight premiere of The Fellowship of the Ring, then did it again for The Two Towers & Return of the King.

Also me: Refused to renew my Prime Video membership & will take a yuge pass on watching this garbage.

I had high hopes. I was hoping it would bring back what the first movie did.

The trailers continue to look like WB actors. Scenes are pretty though
